    Wait a sec. Is it confirmed that even the ones that exchange their bolter for some special weapon still keep their bolter and CCW?

    If it's true it's really great!
    Ultra grit:

    Bolt pistol + CC weapon + Bolter = True grit but better.


    Most likely buying a weapon upgrade, plasma, missile launcher, whatever.... will result in that type of weapon being removed, so a 'large' weapon, plasma or missile launcher, will replace the bolter, a plasma pistol will replace the bolt pistol.

    Should be nice.

    ikterus - it's broken as hell,

    but CSMs .. it specifically states they 'replace their bolter' with the special weapon.

    So yeah.. melta gun their face off and THEN get charge bonuses.

    basic CSM are sick beyong belief. really really good. The iconed CSM are probably as good as their cult equivelants.. and the costs show. Nurgle and Tzeentch are tremendously expensive!

    An all sonic army IS possible.

    Raptors are cheaper expected, but can't take meltas. We get better weapon options than loyalists (spits) and can give them icons though.

    Oblits may NOT take icons.

    Heavy support is stuffed too full for it's own good.

    Predators are more expensive than previously thought, but not by much.

    ...

    Possessed roll randomly, but there are no bad effects! only good ones and better ones. They are still expensive though Also.. i was excited and forgot to check markability.

    Chosen are simply sick. Insanely good weapons options.

    Terminators are really really ... Loyalists will be upset with the options we can get.
    Shooting wise, out terminators aren't good.. but in terms of CC... for the price of a loyalitst terminator we get twin lightning claws on... ANY terminator.

    Daemon weapons are much better than i thought, apart from the Khorne one, which is a bit of a liability. At least we don't have to put up with loyalist Strength on our HQs.

    Daemon princes are stupidly good. Cheap and vital upgrades also cheap.

    Generic Greater Daemons ARE broken. For their stat line, cost and the fact that they don't take up an FOC slot, they are broken.

    ... good times ahead.

    Wait, so for the price of a loyalist terminator, who can have lightning claws, you can have lightning claws. Doesn't sound all that broken if it is in fact exactly the same...

    Guess we can mix and match a bit better then.

    Maybe better, then, to pay the champion upgrade cost and get the extra attack and keep the combi bolter?

    DEATH GUARD

    At Lunchtime I had 30 minutes reading a copy of the new Chaos codex. I was mainly concentrating on the rules that would effect my existing Death Guard army. Here are some of the things I noticed....

    Plaguemarines:
    • as stated on page 1 they get FNP, fearless, T5, I3, ultra grit, grenades etc.
    • The Blight grenades mean no bonus charge attacks for all enemy in a unit.
    • Converting a model to an asp champ with powerfist costs a whopping 40 points.
    • Plasmaguns are more expensive but meltas are the same and flamers I think were a point cheaper.
    • Unit Icon is very cheap but it only gives the teleport / demon homer benefits. Plague marines pay the points per model (gone up by 4) Rather than CSMs with Icon of Nurgle that pay the points as a one shot cost per squad.
    Dreads:
    • Boo Hoo. I think I'll be dropping my 2 dreads. :cry:.
    • The Blood rage no longer doubles your attacks in assault but you no longer have a risk of assaulting freinds.
    • Fire Frenzy means you fire twice at the nearest model FREIND or FOE and you must pivot to do so. I honestly can't understand this. Most times when it happens a dread will be firing at its own troops and then your rear armour could be exposed to the enemy in following turns.
    • Heavy flamer upgrade is very cheap and I think the left arm ML swap was free.
    • Havoc launcher CANNOT be taken on dreads. So much for my fancy forgeworld dread conversion with havoc and plasma cannon(.
    Predator:
    • My AC/2LC pred goes up by a few points but gets the search light and smoke.
    • Pintel mounted TL bolters are even cheaper than before.
    • All LAS Cannon Preds cost a lot more.
    Lesser Demons: Confirm all the stuff on page 1.

    Greater Demon: 100 points, nice stats.

    Spawn: 3 wounds, Sv -, Beasts, Slow & Purpousful.

    Statured Deamon Prince: I can't take D speed anymore and getting +1T for the model costs more but he has the equivalent of D Aura & D Rune thrown in. His extra attack makes up for the fact that he can't buy a second CCW. Oh yes and he goes up to BS5 for all the good that will do him.

    Terminators:
    • Look cheap and are very tempting.
    • Paying the one shot cost per squad to give them +1T means that larger squads are more efficient.
    • Heavy flamers are now very cheap and with each icon on the board acting as a teleport homer I can see them being taken more often.
    • For those of you upset that you need squads of ten to stake a second reaper autocannon may I point out that the minimumn squad size is only 3 models. Just buy 3 units of 3 with a TL-AC in each. It does use up all of your elites choices however.
    Lord:
    • Demon Weapons are quite expensive now. The Nurgle one is Ok against big targets.
    • Wind of chaos ignores all armour and cover saves and glances vehicles on a 4+.
    • Doom bolt penetrates power armour.
    • Warp time is nice.
