So I went to the Battle Bunker's terrain making part of the 48 hours event. They opened two Imperial Sector boxes and proceeded to let us make whatever we wanted for one hour. I built a few things and thought about what else I could build using massive amounts of CoD tiles and walls. ![]() Materials List: 2x Basilica Administratum 2x Sanctus Imperialus 3x 20" x 30" Elmers Foam Board (Any foamcore board will work, that's just the brand I used) Bench Knife/Box Cutter Super Glue Plastic Glue Masking Tape ==Scenarios== ![]() Scenario 1: Castle Adeptustein Suggested Game Types: Seize Ground, Annihilation Recommended Game Size: Any ![]() Scenario 2: Walls of Agony Suggested Game Types: Annihilation Recommended Game Size: 1000+ points ![]() Scenario 3: The Gauntlet Suggested Game Types: Recon Recommended Game Size 750-1000 (best played on a 4' by 4' board, and using too many points would make getting inside the castle to the recon edge of the board possibly too easy) ![]() Scenario 4: Seize the Keep Suggested Game Types: Seize Ground, Take and Hold, Annihilation Recommended Game Size: Any More scenarios will be added as I think of them. I think that's a pretty good plan. The only issue is going to be working out the 'roof' of your irregular octogon shaped towers. Maybe using some plasticard cut to fit would do. It's obvious, but patterning the walls to make them symetrical is always good. So having a doored wall section in the middle of your walls, then having the scroll piece on either side of it, 2 matching pieces on the other side of each of those continuing from the center looks best. You're going to need quite a few sets. I can't wait to see it. ![]() -T |

For the octagons I'm planning on using foamcore board or plasticard with some floor tiles on it. I made a change to it going from ramps to ladders, this makes it so you spend less time moving up to the turrets and more time shooting the opponent because of moving 3" instead of the 6" from the ramps. I won't be able to build very much if any of it before christmas because I'm pretty broke right now, I could get a quarter or more of it if I can save up for one of the sets though. Sometime back I had the same idea... but then the CoD building set was not produced... I like the drawing and the idea and hope to see some job from you sooner before Christmas! )

I will soon have the plan reposted with all the tile textures, hopefully within a few hours of now. And with me buying the sets, expect to see some results in 6 weeks, I'll have enough cash for one box by then, and it should be put together within a day, these sets are notoriously easy to assemble.

Nice SketchUp drawing ![]() Just an idea, but might it be a good idea (and cheaper) to make the walkways out of pink insulation foam and detail them yourself.

Making buildings from scratch: foam core. Foam core is excellent for all of these applications. Just remember to paint the edges with PVA glue to protect it before priming, or the primer propellant WILL eat through the foam. Super glue will also destroy foam.

Yes foamcore works for this kind of thing but that would take ages and I don't have the patience to chop all of it up to make the ruined parts. Also there would be very little detail in it unless I spent hours and hours carving arches and stuff. Edit: The textures are about half way done. Dang Google Sketchup won't place textures correctly. Edit: Here are the pics in all their glory. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Fleeting Ęther; August 21st, 2007 at 01:51.. |

That's very impressive. I can see that using all COD bits would be expensive - foam core would be the way to go if your budget restricts you. It also reminds me of the fort in the end of Starship Troopers - the one that the Troops get rescued from, which makes it an excellent project for the table-top.
