And heres the final little piece of this half ass thrown together exscuse of a scenery workshop. The Khorne idol is pretty easy to paint. Do up the rocky pilliar in any way you want, I suggest useing a dark brown as a base coat. Let dry and then drybrush a lighter brown or mud color on top of that and high light later with muddied up white(take some white and mix a little of your base color or highlight color into it). The idol piece is best under coated in dark dark brown and highlighted with hunters green and bronze. Then if you want highlight it with some gold as I did.

Hope this gave some of us crazy people out there some good ideas, give it a try and Im sure you'll amaze both yourself and your friends.

For now, Guant(aka Mike Fox aka Fox) out

PS. Im thinking of maybe doing a "How to paint your buildings and not have them look like crap" thread next. Give me a week or two to finish my college work though, lol

Pink foam is rarely (if ever) found in southern states (such as California). You'll either have to special order some online (You might have to get a full pallet, which is expensive and will have way more foam then you need), or see if a local hardware store can get their hands on some (which could be cheaper for you, except for the whole 'special ordering' thing). Otherwise, you may need to take a road trip to get your hands on some.

haha yeah, the only place i've seen it is in Canada, where the home depot there was basically overflowing with it. also, some of the GW stores in CA dont even have any terrain using the foam, its mostly buildings and stuff =(

Very snazzy. And as a non-modelling aside: nice work on the photograph of your Khorne icon! The use of lighting really gives the picture (and thus the terrain piece) a brooding, sinister air.

Likin the work so far! Just one comment, the Khorne symbol itself might benefit from maybe a "shell" of plasticard, as it looks a bit rough for brass. Other than that, keep up the good work!

Can I steal/borrow this idea and give it a shot myself?
I think I could pull this off with enough time, and to be honest, I don't think carving with a knife is even that hard (I'm on your side, so don't go all defensive.) I use a stanley for my cutting and as long as you know how to handle it, theres no issues.
Again, awesome job

I like the idea of using a plasticard templeate as a face cover and I think I shall se that in the next project I do. And as for using this idea go right ahead to anyone. I got it from GW and posted it here so that other people would see it and be inspired to create something like it for their friends and others to see.
