Rep Power: 26 ![]() ![]() | I decided to try my latest paint prospect on a section of Tau Piranha I had to spare, along with a few techniques I had read about. I was about halfway through painting, making the appropriate sound effects, when I was suddenly stung by inspiration! Unfortunately, it wasn't the 'get off your butt and finish painting your army bug' which I hope for everyday, but the terrain bug. The sound effects suddenly shifted into a catastrophic explosion and crash and I knew I had work to do. So, dramatisation aside, this is my first terrain piece. It's the same width and length as a Tau Piranha so that it can be used as a Piranha wreck or simply as terrain for the field. I'm throwing it up here in part because I'm proud of it and want to show it off to strangers, but also because I am not so vain as to think that it can't be BETTER!! Therefore, comments and constructive criticism are welcome! ![]() ![]() ![]() Edit: I was actually successful in reducing the image size, but it wasn't apparent cause they were still loading from my cache

Very nice for a first piece. I can tell you one of the scenery masters my first pieces didnt look that good. The snashed ground gould ahve used a little more rocks and uneveness and jsut more dirt in general. But I like my scneery nitty gritty with dirt and crap. But again very nice and if you want to see some of my work and tutorials on how to make some new things jsut check out the links in my sig. Fox

Thats quite impressive IMO. If thats your first terrain piece, then well done, looks great. The only thing I could suggest you add is maybe some metallic paint bits along the edges where its hitting the ground, so that the paint looks like its been scratched and scraped etc. Other than that, congrats on a good piece!8Y

I love the weathering on the piranha! Looks great. The only things I'd change on the diorama itself would be to drop a few bits of crash-trash around. At the moment the piranha seems to have skidded in in one whole piece, with nothing breaking off. A few extra bits scattered around would add a lot to the 'heavy impact' story going on. I'd also look at using more than one flock- unless the thing scudded in on a gold course.

that's your first terrain piece? wow not bad at all. I'm impressed. I love the look and fel of it, and the paint monkey hit it on the head, the weathering is nice. Only thing i raise my eyebrow at, is not the terrain or the top...but the base itself. it's a bit high, isn't it. THe beveled edges sort of look like it's to be a display piece/diorama thing. if you play with that on the table, are you considering that a hill? if you are, then it's suggst flocking the slopes as well, it'll hide the layers of plywood stripes better than a few layers of paint. otherwise, a A+

Nice piece. Just one question: Where did the rest go? I got a Piranha myself that I intend to crash, altough on a snowy base...

Lol, the rest of it was subject to secondary explosions that blew the rest of it into a million pieces!! Thanks a lot for the great words guys. I've been swamped recently so my GW time is down to zero, but hopefully I'll get back to it next week. I'm going to try to add a few pieces of a drone, dirty up some of the flock and flock the edges of the base. The base was made out of a bunch of quarter-inch ply I had leftover from work. The third picture actually makes it look a lot thicker then it is. It's literally a quarter inch thick.
