Rep Power: 65 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The concept is a long abandoned imperial sector. Dense urban and woodland terrain is my favorite, so this will be the best of both worlds for me. My Imperial guard army is very woodland, and I plan on making my Space marines more urban. So they'll both be at home here. The main theme being trees bursting through windows and new green life sprouting from the rubble. Like the more iconic areas of Chernobyl plus a few more decades. Here's my newly cut blocks which everything will be built on. This is an example of a completely full table. I measured out all my pieces so that placing the blocks automatically creates 6" streets plus a 2" sidewalk between each building. Why play in a city if it doesn't make you a little claustrophobic? The most dominating features will be an Adeptus Arbites Precinct (the 12"x24" block at the top-center) and the apartment block (hugeass 24"x24" block in the left-center). Besides those there will be the small fountain on the round and some kind of imperial strip mall on the thin far left board. I'll be using a lot of the 5th ed building rules so everything won't be completely destroyed. ![]() The bigger blocks, besides the precinct which will be largely intact, will have enough alleys and destruction so they don't block a ton of LOS and troop movement. Like the apartment block will be 4 seperate buildings, possibly with skyways attatching them. I want to make this as playable as possible while still looking cool, so I plan on magnetizing tons of features that might get in the way so they can be removed and replaced during gameplay. Guardsmen hanging out ![]() My test building ![]() Stone Sidewalk Test ![]() As I said I don't expect much progress until I'm finished with the ToP, but I was excited about getting my boards last night and wanted to get this thread moving. I have a few drawn concepts that I'll be posting and I'll be concepting the rest of the buildings as I go. Here's some concepts. First is the Precinct. I made this a long time ago before I decided on the overgrown idea. So It'll probably change quite a bit besides the basic C shape with courtyard. ![]() Here's a more current idea of how I want things to look Last edited by thepete; March 30th, 2009 at 23:58. |

Gonna be pretty cool, nice take on the cities of death look. You could keep it too dedicious trees, which would be great, or make it like the Ta Prohm temple: ![]() Either way, great concept.

You definately need to angle the edges of the bases. Great concept, I want a abandoned city board! Dan

Thanks guys. The trees will be matching my IG army bases like this picture (link in my sig if you'd like to see more) ![]() That's a cool picture, Zema. I should look into more old temple stuff as well. I'd like to use that weird exposed root idea someplace. Dan, do you mean beveling the entire edge of the sidewalks? The sharpness does bug me and I'm trying to find the best way to do that without any real tools. It's MDF if you have any suggestions. I'm thinking I'll have to dig around at the in-laws house to find my missing dremel. |

I really like the idea, but the green matt underneath I'm not too big on, it does'nt really fit the board. I would suggest painting them like roads and then use flocks and such to show grass growing over the city, it would just seem less tacky.
