    2) Jungle Terrain

Here is my Jungle Terrain project (WIP)

(To go as part of my main scenery journal) link:
    http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...beginning.html

    Materials and tools:

GW Bushes and 2x trays aquarium plants (pets at home store)
Coins - 25x per tray of bushes (4 trays in the gw pack, so 150 required)

A bunch of 2nd hand jungle trees - They were in the dark eldar box, old catchan box, 3rd ed rules boxed set, etc. I scrounged about 5 sprues worth off my mates for terminator arms / buzz saw bits etc.
2x sprues of jungle trees (To effect repairs to the 2nd hand lot, and make a couple of my own.)
Plasticard (basing the trees which are notoriously unstable)

    Standard basing sand/flock etc.
Knife, drill, pins, clippers, brush (old) PVA glue, poly cement, superglue, paints (inc washes) staples (for pinning) files.

    The Jungle Trees:
These were quite time consuming, as i had to cleanup all the second hand ones first.
tip: I removed what bases they had, and soaked them in water to remove the flock that had been coated over alot of them (the pva broke down quite quickly). Then i inspected them all for where they had been glued back together when broken (they catch alot), broke it there and cleaned the break. when re-attaching broken bits i pinned it for strength - new ones work well with poly cement, but there's not enough hold for poly on repairs.

I based them on 2mm thick plasticard, - (2 trees per big bit or one tree per smaller bit) and also to ensure they didn't fall over in a breeze. If i could go back i wouldn't pick such thick plasticard, as it took ages to file the edges down to rounded, and shape them - having no straight edges bases makes it look more natrual and helps the overall effect.

    Pictures: (WIP)

These were sprayed green and need a wash / drybrush. then i have alot of brown on the branches and base (Calthan for the base, i may choose another for the trunk/branches for effect) and inking / flocking etc.

    The Jungle Bushes:
Here is an example of the bushes (WIP)

The 1st, and 2nd on the left are GW bushes, based on a coin. you get 25 of each and 50 of the 3rd (again GW). The 4th is an aquarium plant, based on a penny. (Slightly girly looking flower optional.) I have placed them next to a mini for scale. (My Bastonne conversion)

I based them on coins - just clip a + of bush off the sprue, and glue it on - I heartily reccommend cheap superglue for this, 5 tubes for a pound from the poundshop if far better than your GW £ 4-5 a bottle job.

In my first attempt which is nearing completion and based on a penny the + is quite visible under the sand. for all the remaining ones i'm going to get some milliput and fill it up a bit before sanding.

I also made the mistake of spraying them green - just pull the bush off the + (It slips back on very easily) and paint the base. I am going to re-do them with brown, (inked then drybrushed with static grass here and there) as it looks far better.

They are on pennies so they can be spread over a table to represent it "counting as" all jungle, alongside the trees and they can be moved to accomodate a tank (If you were foolish enough to take one) and will add flavour.
They can also be added to wooden boards - curved wood about the size of a placemat, based and flocked - to represent a clump of trees / bushes in normal games too. If you weant to move through them you can just move the bushes aside.

Here is an overview of the bushes so far (About 2/3rds of them - i am going to keep approx 10% / any i mess up for bases):

Oh sho, you - yes you personally have been distracting me with your wood Iron Chef competition. I came on to post my WIP. (Click banner at the top to go to my main page, where i'll be putting my Wood fencing in the WFB section - A link to the WFB page. (four sections to be done total.))

Edit: If you like that, you're gonna have to hold on to your seat, I got some photo's to take, cut, edit and post. You'll like them a bit better.
