I was musing today about how the non imperium / chaos players could make barricaides / bastions etc for planetstrike. could you reference some Tau building pics that don't require owning a tau codex and i'll be as helpful as possible. (I think a very helpful thread could be made on this subject, so starting with tau would be a good thing.) If i remember right curved, smooth sections with various "electrical board" bits sticking out make tau buildings (ooh! hard!) I was recently admiring (and trying to aquire) some drones, to flip upside down and use as industrial scenery as the underside looks very electrical board esque. You may have some of those spare. The hardest thing about this is the lack of hard edges in their architecture. I'm trying to think of the right shapes, pre-made. A pokemon ball (look at charity shops etc) or some key fobs (too small really, but if you crack it open the inside circuit board may be usefull. Possibly as side detail on a building) Curved shapes the right size - they'd be plastic, moulded and manufactured for something. (I'd personally consider mutilating a soda bottle and making plaster moulds, but you asked for not too pro.) Maybe buying speakers with an oval back and cutting them, pulling it apart, filling in the gap made with card strip / similar may get the desired effect. (fleabay/charity shop/fleamarket/bootsale for these) ooh! shame it'd be hard to get hold of easter eggs. hmm... i'll have to think about that (and pick up a tau codex and go to page 43 if I walk past one)

To be honest the buildings on the front would be rather hard. The front one may be doable, but the background ones, not so much. I am working on one that is about 8 inches wide 16 inches long, and 24 inches tall. Looks fat. To get that slim look, and still look like your guys can move around inside it would be huge. As far as other Tau scenery goes, I put this together for Iron Chef 4 http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...u-outpost.html And hope to have another piece up within a couple weeks for Iron Chef 6. The key is round. Round all vertical corners, and most horizontal ones. Insulation foam works well, cause it can be sanded, but sucks up paint. The paper plates I used in that last one work well for round structures, but are kinda limited because of thier size. I have used bottle for small round sturctures, but they have to large a radius to do just building corners. Pipes, tubes are pry a better bet for corners. For added bits, use plenty of attenaes, some drones, lines along edges like the outside of drones(inset if you can, painted if not) Hope this helps, I will try of think of anything else and either put in my IC6 or put here.

You may find a pile of help from the Dollar & cheaper section at Target. They have piles of cheap plastic bowls that could make a great start/end for any Tau building. Lots of Big-box stores should have dorm move-in specials, including the cheap plastic dishware. In previous rulebook editions, I think that may have been what was used for the Tau outposts.

I think Tau building are some of the hardest to do. Your best bet is to use old plastic plates and bowls.

the plastic flower pots make for good tau buildings too. they are more like the taus version of a sky scraper. you will need the dome shaped ones.
