Rep Power: 21 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | 1 toilet roll 5mm foamboard 2mm thick card cerial box card At this stage Im planning some ladder rungs up the back wall. I think this was the easy part, the top section will require some acurate cutting. More to follow So Magnus, you started yet?!??! ![]() Bugbait out |

very nice Bug! Good use of the Sec. Ing. Looks very cool with the vertical ribbing! (it reminds me of the barrel of Boba Fett's blaster Rifle- I made one, so lots of refrence pics) very cool tower..can't wait to see the top part!

Thanks guys! I looked at the tube with the support legs on and thought it looked very plain, I think the extra ribing disguises the secret ingredient and make it look better. @ Charger450, I dont use any special tools for cutting, just a good quality "snap off" blade, I must take at least 4 passes of the blade when cutting foamboard, so once its through the top layer of card I look at the handle of the knife as its moving to ensure it stay upright, I also use offcuts of foamboard to support most of the ruler to keep it more stable, must be practice I guess. Update Top section started, looks VERY top heavy in this pic, alot better in real life, hoping that once I have it based it will not look like its not going to fall over. ![]() Bugbait out |

starting to look rather impressive. Are you going to have a door on the tower or a ladder and a trapdoor in the platform? Either way it looks ace, I don't think it looks too top heavy at all. Nice faomcore work too, those are very clean cuts!

I did think about a door in the base, but the tube is only a small diameter and I though it would look strange, will go with an external ladder.

Ithink you've made the right decision there, the little hand grabs made out of wire would look good imho (just noticed you've already made one in the first post, must read properly ). Very cool so far mate, very cool!

Ladder done, used a small roll of galv wire from the local hardware shop bent around a set of pliers to get the shapes all the same, used cotton bud tubes around the base of each ladder rung, pilot holes drilled by hand with pin vice for acuracy and then battery drill for the final size. Note: marine used for scale purposes failed the drop test initiated by #1 daughter, one of the many joys of having kids . . . ![]() Bugbait out |
