Go to the hardware store and get some window screen. Get the metal type. For size, take a miniature with you and hold it next to the screen. You need to turn the screen on the diagonal to change the square holes into diamond shaped holes. Cut strips of "fence" out of the screen so the diamond shaped holes are in the correct orientation. The reason you want metal screen is you can bend it, cut holes and fold back strands to look battle damaged, etc. Metal will hold the shape while plastic needs to be heated to bend right. Fence poles can be pieces of round sprue, plastic rod, wood, whatever you like. Prime the whole construction and paint as you'd like. Also, you can use metal screen to make barbed wire. Follow one strand and cut off all the perpendicular wires very close to the one strand using diagonal cutting pliers. This leaves little barbed nubs alone one strand. barbed wire. |
