Sticky SW basing City/desert/jungle/ice?

Im redoing my SW bases and Im curious to know, what color/theme should I make them?

I already glued the sand and gravel onto the bases and applyed watered-dow chaos black.

Should I make them a city-fight theme and dry-brush them grey? Thats what I was going for...but I forgot how to drybrush them! :realmad: I think its DB w/codex grey, then fortress, I dont know, can someone tell the appropriate way?

I was also thinking about jungle, ice, desert, but eh, after writing this, Im not sure.

ARRRGhhhhh! Please exuse me, I gotta go drink a

if you can't drybrush gray that well, you could paint the base solid grey then give it a wash of black ink or 2. this gives nearly the same effect, but you can go over the top with more grey if needed, i usually use codex grey, then highlight the tips of rocks with fortress.

I done alot of grey style bases in my time so if you want this is what I do to my bases.

(1)Paint all the gravel black (duh )
(2) Take Codex grey and drybrush the gravel where all the raise areas are codex grey while the creeves of the gravel are still black
(3) Grab fortress grey and do a very light drybrush on the codex grey. What I usually do for this step is that I actually only drybrush certain areas of the gravel.
(4)Finally get some li8ght grey and do an even lighter drybrush on the gravel. Again, I usually hit only specific spots to make it a bit unique.

just use a little space wolf grey. Also, here is an example of my Iron Warrior base that has the same scheme.

Your choice of basing colours is dependent on what board you are most likely to play on.
The white snowy/ice basing is fluffwise proparbly the best suited, but unfortunantly there are not to many players out there that have that much ice terrain.
If I was you I'd go for a light grey colour, drybrush.
It will fit into most types of terrain and boards, and if you just feel like modding it a little it is no more effort than adding the odd patches of static grass here and there to make it more springtime battlefield like...

cool thx, nice base Nemy

I think Ill go with dry-brush codex grey, then again with fortress grey.
I also have static grass which I used on my previouse bases, I should I add some or leave it the way it is.
My concious is telling me to leave it...

Personally I'd put something with some color on there other than gray. Especially considering that your putting grey models on grey bases. An opposing color on the base helps the models to stand out more, a bit of green grass or some white snow, would probably add a nice touch.

I apply a mix of wood glue and baking soda to my bases. I then pour more baking soda on top of that and let it dry. Then I apply small patchess of static grass and small details (helmets, purity seals, dead stuff.) Then I paint the sides of the bases Shadow Grey. It makes my Tau look even more superrealistic!!!!

By the way, if you didnt figure it out yet, the baking soda looks just like snow. DUH!
