Is there anything out there in the published fluff (ie: GW ratified fluff, rather than fan site fluff) which gives any information on what purity seals mean to members of the adepta sororitas and on what basis they are awarded or worn?
Thanks

Codex: Witch Hunters:
Devotional scripts and declarations of the bearer's sanctity, many Sisters wear purity seals to further protect them from the taint of the impure and sinful. In the course of her duties a Sister may bear witness to the most terrible of sights and so the more purity seals borne, the more of such horrors she has had to endure. Each seal is a benediction against the forces of disorder, warpcraft and mutation, a plea to the Emperor for deliverance from evil.

Thanks AT. I had forgotten that little note in the codex next to the picture of the sister. Now for the more difficult bit though. Is there any published fluff on whether a sister simply decides to wear a particular benediction or prayer and does it herself or whether there is any sort of award ceremony or grant of permission to wear a purity seal?
I know this could be unanswerable but I thought I would ask nonetheless. There is nothing I have seen on the matter in either of the codexes or the WD 'codex' and I have not noticed any mention of it in any of James Swallow's three SoB works. Therefore there may not be anything out there past what you have already pointed out but I am conscious that there may be further information hiding in non-SoB specific books I have not read yet.

In general fluff, Purity Seals are more symbolic than anything else. They offer the mental fortitude to protect oneself from taint. Space Marines are awarded seals by chaplins signifying their unyielding purity, however, but the symbolism is largely the same.

Thanks Ikbuh. Sorry it took so long to reply.
So logically then, if Space Marines are awarded purity seals by chaplains, it makes sense to think that sisters' purity seals might also be awarded rather than simply worn according to personal devotion.
