6th Edition rumors and Sisters of Battle

Well, the rumors are slowly trickling out and some things actually look pretty good for us. Take a look at the thread in the Rumors section.

    Couple of biggies:

The Rage USR grants +2 attacks on the charge. Obviously, this effects two of our units. PEs and Repentia. I feel that with some of the other changes, PEs will still be useless, but Repentia are really looking rather spiffy. Why? Each one sports FOUR attacks on the charge! I mean, wow. We don't know how else rage was affected or even fleet for that matter, but that's a good thing.

It's confirmed that rapid fire weapons can fire one shot at Max range even if they move. More bolter shots are also good. This really makes Retributers an interesting choice. You can still get a fair number of rending shots off on the move now in case you need to reposition yourself.

Each army is lead by a "warlord." The Warlord is the leader of the army (go figure) and gets special rules. One of the options is for Scoring. This is huge for us. St. Celestine as a Scoring unit? This is a major yes for us. The last tournament I went to used 4th edition scoring rules (anything with a WS can hold) and she single handedly tied a round for me. As in, she was the last model on my side of the board and forced a tie. The other example gave a Ld10 bubble.

Much to the credit of the amazingly incorrect WD BatRep, buildings and the like now have a slot on the FoC, one of which is an AA emplacement. This is good because we don't have any of those.

    Thoughts/comments?

Something else I found is that FNP is now down to a 5+, which is no good for Repentia...

Weaker transports, more small arms fire, possibility of reduced FnP and cover protection, power weapons that may or may not damage terminators, flyers, and improved psychic powers.

3rd ed sisters would have been great. 5th ed sisters look like they got screwed soooo much harder than previously thought.

Honestly if the best thing we've got going for us in 6th ed is that Repentia get an extra attack (in return for being even more fragile) it's time to throw in the towel.

Yea. A lot more leaked out after I wrote this. Vehicles might have taken a back seat with the new system in favor of being on foot again. I do know that you can't score from inside a vehicle anymore. Maybe it's time for Immolators to be taken with BS on foot? I think things will be good for us, but just better for everyone else.

I'm not seeing the good frankly.
    Foot sisters are dead sisters.

At least I might be able to ally my Sisters with the templar collection I have, Vinculus-crusade style.
(checks recent GW doubles allies chart ... templars hate sisters)

    Foot sisters never worked.

As for the rumours in general, they don't seem to massively affect sisters really given the very narrow way the army plays. FnP going to 5+ however does make repentia not worth it again - as they currently stand they just about justify their cost but at 5+? No dice I proclaim.

    One rumour I found interesting-

The two examples given were a Grand Master giving all friendlies within 12" his Ld of 10 (Inspirational), and a Chaos Lord being a scoring unit (Personal, the ability itself was called "Immovable Object")
This could lead to hilarious things with the living saint if she could be made a scoring unit and a cannoness giving a LD bubble may actually make her kinda useful. maybe.

Otherwise from what i've seen so far it is just business as usual.

I ran Horde Sisters back in 4th edition and I miss the days of 30-40 Rending shots per unit. That was back then, though.

The more tid bits from 6th that come out, the more I see why we lost certain things. For example: We can't have a Book of St. Luscious with the option of the Warlord buff now can we? We can't have a 5+ chance to ignore Psyker powers because everyone gets a 6+ save! Ect.

Until we get our new book, it seems that Celestine will be carrying our army on her back even harder now.

We'll see what Repentia look like with 6th comes out. I'll be using them in the escalation league, so I'll share my thoughts and experiences.

So, what do you guys think about 6th edition allies with Sisters? Grey Knights + Sisters gives you two respawning scoring models. GM makes Celestine Scoring and Thrawn is a troop choice. You have plenty of long range firepower between psiflemen dreads and exorcists, and GKs fill that CC gap that SoB horribly lack.

I'd consider it more if I didn't hate everything about the grey Knights book. I might go the opposite route and focus on running 4 Daemon Princes and and Bloodthirster/Fateweaver using Vector Strike all over everything.

I've played a number of allied/doubles games and find them inherently unbalanced through unintended combinations of powers, as well as mild disappointment that the sensible combinations of armies are rarely the best ones.

Still it's a way to use the models, and some of the better units, if 6th edition is a real kick in the teeth. Celestine could get 'malleus inquisitor' silly though with every army and it's dog taking her :p

How the abilities of different armies combine will be killer - plague marines and the tallyman for instance (a sure way to lose friends in apoc), the old vulkan and sisters lists back with a vengeance (vulkan and fire dragon spam ... eek), farseers everywhere, etc.

The WH codex at least had strict limitations to stop the silliness and i'm guessing (hoping) that the allies stuff will just be optional rules in the back of the dex, much like the current multiple FoC stuff, because 40k books are not built for it.
