Referrals?

On the Profile page in the Forum info box you can see something called Referrals. What's that?

simply put, how many people you refer to this site, that IIRC register.

My question is, how does the forum know that you refered them? There used to be a referral link, but that's long since gone, and now I'm curious.

They fill in your LO handle in the 'referer' field when registering.
