I actually have a wish, but I don't think it will come true. I'd like to have a bandwidth friendly(if possible) battle map program on the site.

Ie: Use a standard set of tools, insert the name of the units or terrain used into a map key or whatever, and be able to give quick understandable diagrams of battle reports without being works of art and thus taking up too much space.
By all means, do upload your pictures to the gallery, we have space enough, and if your picture dont meet the requirements it will be rejected. http://www.librarium-online.com/content/view/244/32/

I was working on a battlemap editor once, where you could choose terrain and drag and drop items on to the battle ground and then take a screenshot or something of it, but the project stopped. If there are someone with javascript/php/html/flash skills, please pm me. We have a special group for you

Cool.

I had made up some battlemaps for a battle report using a graphics program I use a lot. I was going to post them in the thread, but I just couldn't get them under the size requirement no matter what I did. (I tried saving the pictures under various other programs as well, but admittedly I'm an idiot when it come to these things.)

I ended up giving up in frustration and never did finish the battle report.

Something that could be used to do this on the forum itself would be awesome.

I realize that such would be far in the future, but I would like to see it happen someday.

One of our members (TheWamp) had this idea, and I thought I'd ask to see how feasible it was.

What about auto-suscribing to subforums? For instance, say I want to be suscribed to all threads in the 40K Chaos subforum, or the General Announcement subforum, no matter if I've replied to it or not? For people who operate mostly out of their User CP, this would be very nice to have.

I agree.

I would be nice to have this option. rather than having to click on the New Posts page all time and sort the users personal wheat from the chaff.

Check here, now you just need to take a screenshot
http://www.librarium-online.com/dev/...battlemap.html

I'll see what I can do on the subscription issue

I am very happy now.

Are we able to enter in text or other such things to differentiate between units?

no, I cant add dynamic text so I need some help to figure out how we can make the units. Right now its only two different units - player and enemy

We could make the units in categories of "heavy support", "fast attack", "assault" etc, but I dont know how helpfull that is.

How about a series of symbols. They don't have to be specific. The player would state in his text what each symbol referred to before the battle maps were displayed.

Example: 2 of Diamonds=Leman Russ Battle Tank

3 of Clubs=3rd Squad of Platoon A

Although I'm not suggesting we use playing cards, hopefully you see what I mean.

WD used to do it all the time.

Bull Skull=Unit of Ork Goffs.

Ect.

I realize though that there could be only one symbol set so it would have to be pretty generic.

Thats a good idea, I can make a few general icons to use, perhaps in two colors, one for the enemy and one for the player

What about things such as -

T1; T2.... (troops)

FA1; FA2; FA3.... (Fast Attack)

HS1; HS2.....

And then for Fantasy, have -

Core1; Core2;

Rare1; Rare2...

And so on, then have different colours for the players. Every army in the game has those things in common. Ofcourse, obviously this won't work for specialist games, but should cover the two that we see Battle Reports for.
