Hey, made a billion armies but few of them are good, this is a really great list(in my opinion) as it has a lot of elite troops and a lot of slaves which can only be good.
30 stormvermin (chieftain goes here)
22 slaves(each unit of slaves his a warlock to give them extra LD)
30 Plague monks
6 plague cencers
Points total = 999
Pretty much the plague monks and stormvermin go in the middle, which are protected by the 2 large blocks of slaves. The cencers go within 6" of the monks and the globadiers and last unit of slaves go where necasary.
The thing I miss is magic or magic defence. You also lack real range weapons (globadiers only throw 8"). Also from what I've read (never played skaven yet) you need to have a BSB, this is importaint for low LD armies. The rest looks solid, mabey reduce a unit of slaves so you can have some magic or magic defence and ad a BSB.
* Depressed face* thought people would like the list, anyways...
Ok, i do need a bsb and i need some ranged weapons but this is a horde army, 175 models in total 100 slaves and 75 elite models. The point is that i should be in combat by turn 2 if not turn 3. In turn 3 i should flank attack most units and tear them apart, with some units running away, thats skaven =D.
175 models in 1000pts should wear down, most opponents.
The problem is that if your slaves get hit hard (which they will) then you'll suddenly have gaping holes in your battleline which enemies will exploit. However that means that you still get your stormvermin and monks get into combat.
Can't see either of my armies beating this until I get that reaper bolt thrower or until my other one get's re-released (May is soo far away). Still, my Tomb Guard would put up a valiant fight (and might actually gain enough wounds back to win the combat).
Just watch out for shooty dwarves/wood elves.

cheers "Karrain", i would think and i know i need a bsb and magic defence but i would then have a lot less elites and a lot less in numbers. Also plague cencers are actually really good in combat (16pts a model does that) 2 attacks, frenzy, hatred, flails with people taking toughness tests and being toughness 4 for survivability.
Would people consider swapping the cencers for a unit of 10 globadeirs??
really, the only problem I have with this list is the lack of punch. A hydra or treeman (well, any big scary gribbly really)could really hurt you I reckon.
On the censer part, yes they're hard hitters but they'll drop like flies to any kind of shooting as they only got T4 and skirmish to protect them
Well I'm quite new to skaven, but I have to agree that this list definately lacks a punch. What I see is a big ol' tarpit, and some more elite, mini tarpits. With skaven you need something big and expensive and gibbly, like a 50 strong unit of clanrats, 2 warp lightning cannons, a couple of doomwheels, a hellpit abomination....even a unit of 4+ rat ogres works for under 1250. And what's with the warlocks only having hounds? Why?!?! A warp muskeet and/or level 1 wizard works better. Instead of slaves have clanrats, so much better and more durable. I only really use slaves in combination with a grey seer, so I can blast away into their combat.
But don't trust me, I'm just a noob

I had some friends too play a couple of games ,as two of them had armies but wern't sure what too buy they proxied the entire army, with my skaven models. This meant i would have too use my undead ogres so i had 2 units of 6 bulls a unit of 6 ironguts and a bruiser, and a block of 40 gnoblars didn't quite go too plan, ogres are too soft, they need the butchers magic and maybe even an ironfist!
I completely agree my first list had too many skaven(LOL), I dont think i need so many waek units, i need some magic defence as i understand how it works now and i think i do actually need some range.
So new list, scrsap the other one...
Chieftain * Goes with stormvermin
Chieftan * Goes with plague monks
BSB,additional hand weapon
Warlock * Goes with who?
40 slaves - Deployed as 5 wide 8 deep
30 stormvermin - Deployed as 5 wide 6 deep
30 plague monks - Deployed as 7 wide 4 deep
2 rat ogres
I'm not sure if this much better if at all, i'm considering dropping the rat ogres and a slave too get a warplightning or dropping a globadier to get a plagueclaw. having some range would be nice, what do you think?

I'd invest in some protection for the BSB, you really don't want him to die as a skaven player So I'd also consider placing him somewhere else than the plague monks. They're going to die in droves and you want them in combat Also, a warp condensator for the engineer would be good, netting you an extra pd on a 5+ and +2 to the number of hits on warplighting (his default spell) is pretty much win-win, perhaps drop him down to level 2 if you're hitting the hero cap. Drop the spears on the slaves, you want them as a tarpit and those extra 5 attacks aren't going to amount to much anyway (let's face it, they're puny, but cheap). I'd drop the rat ogres for a warplightning cannon, 2 rat ogres is 4 t4 wounds an enemy has to remove, hardly difficult with any amount of shooting really. Dunno about the globadiers, depends what kind of armies you face I guess. Can see them being golden against WoC and heavily armed dwarfs, but not much else really, but as said, not much experience with them.
Edit: I'd keep the slaves over clanrats btw, clanrats aren't really that much better but twice the points I seem to recall (going on memory here), so unless it's for fluff reasons or to add weapon teams, keep your slaves
Rat ogres have 3 wounds each. I always thought globadiers were great, for 10pts a model capable of adding some punch to any unit, especially slaves. As they are only 2.5pts a model with spears and have the same chance of killing a chaos warrior! Due to playing such a small game, having pointless units are a bit of a points waste, having a 102 unit of slaves2 rat ogres is 4 t4 wounds
Was deployment on the stormvermin and plague monks good? like deployed as 5 wide 6 deep and 7 wide 4 deep?
I would really like to have 40% of core, so what hero would i get rid of the BSB or Warlock wizard? So i have only 2 heroes.
@ "Zarb", due to your great input into my army and the post, i'd like to congratulate u, rep coming ur way =P
