I'm a long time listener, first time caller. I've been following the warhammer fantasy scene for 4 years (give or take a year) and have finally decided to join in the fun! Please tell me what I did wrong and what I should do to fix it.
-Extra Hand Weapon
-Shield of Distraction
-BSB (Storm Banner)?
-Wizard Lvl. 1
-Engineer & Crew
Total w/ and w/o magic banner: 936/986
If I don't take the banner I can take another 30 Slaves.

Welcome to the club!
Sorry for the late reply. I would advise you take the banner and another 7 slaves, that therefore makes your unit even when you put your Warlock Engineer in it.
Apart from that it is a good list! Happy gaming!
Been a while since iv looked through the skavn book properly so if i mention you should take somthing that doesnt exsist or you cant take just ignor me.
Your general, buy a halberd if you can so you become strength 5. Its better than having extra attacks as thats what you can use your units for. You also need a decent save so i sugest buying a piece of armour from the BRB (basic rule book/ Big Red Book). You dont want this guy to die out of hand so a nice bit of armour is the way to go. Wards are probably a it of overkill at this point limit.
BSB, i would drop magical banners at this point on him. It frees up some points for some magic items and armour on him instead.
Engineer, Thought about getting him some magic upgrades like the Condenser (not sure if its moved to magic items or Skrye items or whatever). Also taking a basic engineer and giving him something like the doom rocket is always nasty.
Are you thinking taking yout units 6 wide for the attacks, or 6 deep for greater number of ranks? With just hand weapon and shield you have anvil units with only the first 2 ranks fighting, which is another reason your characters need somthing hitty. With spears you would get that extra rank of attacks but loose out on the 6+ ward having a sword and board (hand weapon and shield) gives you. If your planning to just sit there in combat with sword and board you need to make sure you have somthing to be earning you combat res by killing stuff. Its ok if you com up against somthing like a block of empire or dwarfs for a while, but if you get hit by somthing like a block of chaos warriors i can see you lasting about 2 turns of combat.
