Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey guys! i wanted to start a skaven army starting at 500 points and slowly building up from there. i want to pick 1 of the four main clans though. is it worth trying out a pestilens onli army using the official rules? like plague priests, clanrats, slaves, plague rats, monks, and censer bearers? or is that to restricted? i could even go with lord skrolk as a lord l8r on. thnx!
Doesn't sound like a bad idea, in fact it's pretty good. Just be sure to have some clanrat slaves around to screen the Plague Monks since T4 will save them from a round of shooting and they're prone to chasing after anything they see.
If you want a little magic in the army then it's a good idea to give a Plague Priest the Liber Bubonicus and a Warpstone token.
yer good idea! im not sure wat to do with censer bearers though. what is their purpose? also since lord skrolk has a liber bubonicus does this mean i cant have another one in the army even though he is a special character? i might just go with a grey seer. i think the screaming bell can match pestilens if u do it right. pestilens seem to like bells
If your passion is Pestilens, you may be best advised taking a long hard look at the list in the book on Lustria. I think that you may find an army raised using that list as a basis will have a far more pestilential taste than one adapted from the main list.
It would also give you access to Festering Chantors as a source (or sauce: your call) of appropriate arcanian support.
(And of course: Pusbags are The Perfect Slave unit for the Clan!!!)

XH!N had a good point, there was a pure pestilens army list that was posted on the GW website, the Bubonic Court. I don't have the Lustria book, but I believe that these lists are similar. Since it is no longer posted on the site, the Lustria book might be the next best thing.
This allows a much more varied army within pestilens. As said earlier, it allows for a list with magic in it, although it is not as broad of a selection as a grey seer would have. Otherwise, im sure that whoever you are playing with would have no problem with you making a pure pestilens list.
shweet! next firday ill pop in GW and have a look at lustria! ...is lustria usable in tournaments thought? ... pfft or maybe i should just collect pure pestilens and hope to gawd the 7th edition has offical clan armies!!
It isn't universally accepted, but it does get an airing at some (somewhat less than the Eshin list from Storm of Chaos though). Problems begin at 2000pts as you then have to take Nurglitch as your Lord, although I have seen a tournament here in Oz than waived that rule.
All of this discussion may be well & truly moot when our new book gets released.
Again XH!N brings up a good point, the new army book. While its release is not supposed to be for about another year or so, it is worth considering a newer army to begin for the meantime. Then again, a few skaven models got redone not to long ago, such as the plague monks, so I wouldnt worry about GW making them obsolete.
