I know there's not a date for the new army book, and no rumors that I know of. But I'm curious what you people would like to see for changes.
Plenty of people have complained that the current book is an overpowered list, but considering the way the new books are going, substantial ability upgrades are the norm. It seems like Skaven could be looking at some sweet new units and rules, based purely on speculation.
Anyhow, what changes do you think would be good fixes, upgrades, new units, rule changes, unit cost changes, stat realignments and so on.
I think Skaven are after DEs and WoC, so at a guess, Feb next year?
As for what id like to see... Warped lightning being balanced a bit to level out the SADness (although with GWs recent powerings.. hmm..)
Good models shouldnt be an issue so long as GW keep their heads screwed on.
Other than that, just more of the same. Crazy warmachines etc
Yeah, I hear they are after warriors of chaos.
I hope that they might beef up Rat Ogres, or make them cheaper.
I concur that rat ogres definitely need change. Even though they are on paper not that bad, the other three options in the specialist unit section are simply better (and also the more obvious choice for multiple units), which makes them the somewhat forgotten child there... I think that a decrease in points might be a good option, perhaps with the optional mutations from the Hell Pit list, as some of those combinations made me wonder why they hadn't put that in the book in the first place.
Other then that, the only thing I can mention is grey seer apprentices (lvl. 1/2 wizards). Not due to the fact that the warlocks tended to give Skaven such a bad name, but to make the magic phase somewhat more fun, cause up to 2000 points, it's just downright boring... Perhaps change the warlock rules to something similar like the dwarf engineer.

"Eagles may soar high, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines"
as this army is based off numbers. why not just grant the army a +1 to rank bonus (eg max rank bonus you can get is 4 instead of 3) keeping same rules (eg only after first rank, min of 5 models ext) Skaven are about overwhelming arn't they?
from what i've read the main things they try to do is make unused units more popular, so expect to see changes to Rat Ogres and Swarms,
Other then that not sure.
Kudos to Hondor for the extra rank bonus idea! that fits perfectly with the flavour and army composition tendencies of Skaven.
I already beleive the skaven have great flavour written into the rules. Things like....

As for changes...
-Maybe Rat ogres need to cause terror if there are at least 3 or more of them. Again trying to represent the strength (or in this case scarier) in numbers concept. That may attract more people to use them.
-Stormvermin seem underused as well. While they are certainly the skaven elite, they don't stack up well against other armies' better than average troops. If they could be either frezied or stubborn, it would add to the appeal.
-in regards to model design, I think every skaven general would like to have a clanrat/ nightrunner design that would contian the tail somewhat. Can't tell you how happy I was to see the plague monk model design. Hopefully we will finally be able to spend more time manouvering our clanrats during the course of a game than ranking them up at the beginning.
-I'd like to see a change back to older Rat Ogres too. The one with the makeshift gun
especially feels out of place. These are Moulder creations, not Skryre! They would look better simply as mutants, not haphazard constructs.
"Sometimes I wonder why I still live amongst the humans." -
Seeing how it was e.g. for the imperial hellblaster, i HOPE that now ratlings will need to hit
Also -as for O&G- i'd expect some strange miscast rules, and maybe a tooldown for skaven magic.
It's better, it's shiny, it's warped...it's Chaos.
Bring back deathmaster snitkch. Six s5 attacks with killing blow, and each wound is multiplied into d3 wounds! That sure is an awesome character killer. This in general goes with my philosophy with how the should treat the new skaven. If they beef up the other clans besides skryre we will see more people take eshin, moulder, and pestilens armies, hopefully lowering the number of SAD players.
if you can guarantee a magic week/no magic oponent a pure pestilance army is prety sound (aka dwarfs)
I just got thinking about getting into Skaven (after deciding against Nurgle Daemons due to a lack of deversity)
So rule wise I couldn't add anything to the discussion, but I'd like to see some new plastic models. They've been the same ever since I got into warhammer for the first time, 10 years ago...
But the main reason for my post, what is this "SAD" I keep hearing about?
