I've played a few rounds with my Skaven and want to introduce something new in my army. I'm currently leaning towards fielding a Screaming Bell unit in my roster against Empire. The thing is that the guy i'm playing with who's playing Empire always has a great cannon and a volley gun in the rear and since the Screaming Bell is a large target and considered a chariot, the cannon will for sure take it out.
I'm still thinking of ways to field it however and the only thing that i can add to my army to take care of the Empire's warmachines are two units of tunneling teams and hopefully one of them will emerge in turn 1 or 2 and take care of the crew..
I could also skitterleap a hero within charge range of the cannon, but that will give my opponent a chance to take him out before i get my second turn.
What are your ideas on this? How do you keep the Screaming Bell away from the warmachines?
Hide the bell behind a forest on turn 1, your acknowledging that you will mainly use non LOS spels on turn 1. Add units of gutter runners with tunnel teams at least 2. Put your tunnel markers under his cannons. That way if they come up they charge the cannons. Once the cannons are engaged move the bell into the forest and outwards. You will still have the ability to ring the bell, but your hindering a unit, however its still very effective vs empire in lots of ways from a army wide panic check, to cavalry panic checks, to warmachines taking d3 wounds. Spell like skitterleap, plague, death frenzy, and vermin tide do not require LOS to help your army.
