Exactly like the title says, I was hoping to get some advice/tips on how I can defeat this list (use my men to their fullest potential). Note that I will try and make any changes necessary as I haven't yet purchased all my models.
My Skaven Army will include:
-2 units of 20 Clan rats, both full command one with spears
-2 units of 20 slaves
-20 plague monks with additionals, full command and banner of burning hatred
-6 Plague censer bearers
-2 plague priests, both equiped with gear(one have the item so it is a lvl 1 wizard)
My Friends Woodelf Army:
-12 gladeguards with bows
-6 treekins split into 2 units
-and a tree hero, not sure of the exact name
Again any tips/changes would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and sorry for the long read.
A warpfire thrower makes Trees die, it's also a hilarious little machine
Use your numbers to corner his units and beat them with combat resolution and flanking. Plague Monks are extremely nasty against T3 elves so they will cause plenty of problems. Jezzails can handle the big tree, beware of panic though.
How are your priests equipped? Liber Bubonicus isn't that useful as Pestilent Breath has such a high casting cost, an Engineer would be much better. For the combat priest, 2 hand weapons, Warpstone Amulet, and the Bands or Languisher Sword+Bands are nice combinations.
Hope that helps, good luck.
If i give my priest bands, can he dispell it with a 4 plus because it is power level 4 correct?
Do warpfire throwers count like characters, so if they are within 5" of one of my sqauds they cannot be targeted unless the closest enemy, and would it be worth it to get rid of my 3 jezzails for this one model?
Last question! When im fighting my other friend who has tomb kings, should i bring my other priest back in so i have more melee? Or should i just leave my engi out there. He would have 4 dispell dice to dispell anything my engineer tries to do.
Thanks so much for helping, and im sorry for all my questions.
Yep, but with your walking tesla coil running around that's probably the last thing he'll worry about. If i give my priest bands, can he dispell it with a 4 plus because it is power level 4 correct? They can be picked out as normal, so hide behind slaves and other LoS blockers. The WFT isn't the most accurate or reliable weapon out there, but it negates regen and does double wounds on trees, plus it's damage output on normal troops is impressive and panic never hurts. Jezzails are probably more useful in general, but I find WFTs to be great fun.Do warpfire throwers count like characters, so if they are within 5" of one of my sqauds they cannot be targeted unless the closest enemy, and would it be worth it to get rid of my 3 jezzails for this one model?Monks and the Priest can handle melee against TKs too, being very soft apart from characters and big monsters/ushabti. They have 4 DD, but with 2 warp lightnings and the bands you can reliably get something off.Last question! Dude I love you right now! Thanks so much! Ok so here is my new and improved army list! My lighting will rip threw those trees, well aslong as i don't overdose on warpstones!
Clan Rats x24
Clan Rats x24
Plague Monks x20
-banner of burning hatred
Clan Rat slaves x20
Clan Rat slaves x20
Plague Censer Bearers x6
-Bands of Power
-upgraded warp-energy condenser

Looks good, though doesn't seem hordey enough. If you can, shift some points around to get more clanrats. You can get rid of the clanrat champions and warpstone tokens to take more rats. Also, you could get rid of 3 plague monks and run them 6x3 to maximize your attacks.
Erm- just one little note - you have bands of power twice in the army, which I believe isn't allowed....
He indeed can't use a second Bands of Power, but seeing the point cost of the engineer I'd say he put in in there by mistake.
You should also know that posting point cost for single models and/or un-upgraded ones, like the rattling gun and WFT, isn't allowed on this forum. So just don't post them, the people who react to your post will probably know it anyway
Yeah the bands of power on the Engi was a copy/paste error. Well I can get 24 rats in each unit, I may go 6x3 but i need to fit my Plague Priest in a squad. Would he be best in the Plague Monk Squad?
Yep, Priest goes with the monks. That way you only have 1 frenzied unit and your priest provide some anti-armor to complement the monks' ability to tear up infantry.
