I am a newb-ish 40k player and have been slolwy sucked into FB by some other hobbyists at my local GW. They have a few 25th anniversary boxes sitting around and was wondering if they we're a good place to start a large horde of skaven with. Or if I was better off to get a battlegroup or two and bolster them with something more shooty.
How many 25th boxes are we talking here?
Get more clanrats and slaves, the Battalion is the best place to get them cheap.

Most of the 25th anniversary boxes were selling weird sets of things, like loads of Treekin or Wild Riders for Wood Elves. I got the feeling that they were trying to move units that sell less often. Also, those boxes were designed for use in super big games. They may not have the most useful stuff for you.
The 25th anniversary box set contains 1x Grey Seer (lord), 40x Clanrats (with full command), 40x Plague Monks (with full command), 10x Poison wind globardiers, 10x Plague censor bearers, 1x Ratling gun (Has to be put with the clanrats), 2x Rat ogres, 3x Packmasters, 6x Giant rats. Well Looking at that you get a battalion and then some the lord being added is abit strange because with a quick look over its only 1100ish points (including the lord). In terms of shooty its got abit of a punch to it get some jezzails and maybe another rattling gun for the other clan rat unit and youd have an above average shooting phase.
What is free will but an illusion created by those foolish enough to belive they have any control over their lives.
