Hey guys, I'm starting a new army and really really want to build it around surprise and mischief so I would like to include an assassin, hidden in one of my clan rat blocks, is he any good, is this a viable way to field him?
Chaos Warriors (2009) 16-4-9
Works best when used with a grey seer who can skitter leap him. Your best bet is to skitter leap a assassin with either Warpstone Stars or the Brass Orb. Works awesome vs dwarves, works poorly vs Dark Elves due to dark riders.
40K-Beakies(9-14-4),Guard(4-7-2),Orks(34-12-11). FANTASY-Dwarves(15-6-7),Beasts (14-14-1), Skaven (17-17-10) DoC (6-1-2). CYGNAR (28-15-1)
I usually give him a cloak (I forget the proper name) and charge him on his own at war machines. Works pretty well since my opponent has to roll to even target him =P Has worked everytime against dwarfs
He's a fun option, I just wish he wasn't so freakin' expensive.
I normally Scout or Skitterleap him with Warpstone Stars. Messes up big monsters real good, and can still tear up war machine crews.

Yes, especially if you put it in a regiment that an enemy will want to take on with his better troops. For example Clan Rats pushing a Screaming Bell, many an opponent will target such a unit with his missle troops but may want to engage it in CC battle in order to get rid of the Gray Seer. If he charges with and you have a Skaven in it ready to take out something good, you can do some real damage.
As much as I like the look of assassins, i've never really dabbled with them simply because the price puts me off. Load him up with Warpstone Stars and that's a full 25 strong block of clanrats worth of points. Still, Maybe i'll try one soon..
I would say in addition that I generally only put Assasins in clan regiments, sometimes in Storm Vermin, never really into Gutter Runner units, as they already do well enough without them.
