Undoubtedly one of the problems facing Skaven players with the new plastics is whether to assemble that expensive screaming bell as the bell or a plague furnace.
Each will be better in a certain situation and a certain army, but how will you build yours? I'm having problems deciding, I've heard that the Plague Furnace is very competitive but the idea of a Seer riding a bell is too hard to pass up
Ok lets start with the bell...
2.Makes unit unbreakable
4.360 LoS for seer
1.Large target thus makeing your 500pts mini a easy target.
2.Bell Table focuses in combat not where your T3 Lord wants to be (even with a 4+ward) and dousnt realy add any real punch to the unit
3.Is to exspencive for what it does... IMO but not to much to make it unusable
2.Makes unit unbreakable
7.Cheap (300pts with a minimum tooled preist)
1.Large target (as above)
2.Little protection (two canons and its gone...)
so to me over-all the furnace bests the bell.

If someone helps you REP them...
I'll probably build mine to allow both choices. But to be honest, I'll probably not use either, as they are both poor opyions in my opinion as far as competativeness goes.
By the way, The grey seer on the bell is T4, gets a 4+ ward and can scurry away from combats via "Above the Masses" rule ~ so he's actually more susceptable to shooting more than anything else. I think you've underestimated the bell by quite a bit.
Really the bell will just sit there - you won't get enough attacks in on the remaining rats to do much damage. Good luck tearing down a T6 bell w/ a ward save (since you can't hit the seer) the next turn, you'll be down 6+ w/ flank, numbers, banner ranks against you. The bell just keeps you there til you get swarmed or hit in the flank/rear by tons of rats or abomination/doomwheel.

is there anything preventing a person from using both in one army?
Who else likes the sound of a Plague Furnace pushed by 100+ plague monks?
"Well... that hurt" - Vampire Jon Skellan (Mannfred's right hand man) after being beaten up, falling down an underground waterfall and being impaled by a stalactite.
I already have an old Bell, so Furnace for ==Me==.
They're both pretty awesome. The Bell Table is sweet and Unbreakable is supremely awesome. The ward save for your Grey Seer and the higher vantage point helps too.
The Furnace turns Plague Monks into monsters. Last game I had such a unit take a charge from a Vampire Lord, Vampire, Grave Guard and Skellies on the chin before beating them down with Death Frenzy and 5+ poison combined with gas and the wrecking ball, winning by around 15 and crumbling them all!
If you have a censer on your Priest, you'll need lots. Like 27+ (I run 7 wide).
