Since this guy is nothing like the Dark Elf version....has anyone found a good use for this guy? What about magic item setup? I can't decide, seems so limited....
hes no good, too expensive, cant really hit hard, and cant be decked out, sure you can get lucky with that land mine eshin weapon but 200+ pts for a lucky shot does not belong in a skaven army, when you could just take a lv2 warplock engineer with doom rocket (oh so deadly) and power stone, or a whole-nother unit....imo of course.
I was thinking that too, thanks. He's just got so many cool little special rules, it pumps his base price up...but he can't really use everything all at once!
He's also the only guy that can get Warpstone Stars...but 170 points just to throw some stars? Dunno, would shred Ogre sized models to pieces though...
He seems to be way overpriced for what he can do for your army.
The only real reason I can see taking him is to stick with a theme, otherwise there just are simply better thiings to spend your points on.

It's Adventure Time!

I love the assasin! Hide him in a unit, give him Blade of Corruption, and use him in challenges. You can get a lot of overkill combat res by chopping up a unit champ. Plus his 4+ ward makes him decent enough to fight some lords and live.
My assasin rarely fails me. Unlike my stupid grey seer who fails spectacularly every single game. Bah, as soon as I can build a Warlord, Im never using the grey seer again.

I like him a lot.
Warpstone Stars lets you pick off big monsters, the Infernal Bomb plus Smoke Bombs is all kinda of amusing (bomb, charge, fleet, trap, lolz), and having another infiltrator that can munch on things with all those poisoned attacks it handy.
He's not like the DE Assassin, this one is much better suited to running solo I think.

ok so i changed my mind, i gave an assassin warp augmented weapons (+1S, +1A), so that's 4 always strikes first, S5 poison attacks, WS 6, and a 4+ ward save!should work great as a character / champion killer...its just a question of hiding him in the right unit. and with the other 5pts available you can give him the rat hound bodyguard for anther WS3 S3 attack.
i like the assassin again
might want to check that, you can't have poison on a magical weapon unless it says so in the weapons description. So giving the assassin a magical weapon wastes his poison, and his additional hand weapon.
Personally, my ass-ass-in (hurhur) always gets a tail weapon, a pistol, and not much else, as he can't take armour either. Sometimes he gets a 'Don't hit me so much!' item, or something to curb enemy magic. But not often, because he's already pretty expensive, and pretty well armed too.
He runs around being a nuisance, march-blocking, charging war machines, the sides of archer lines, and leading the gutter-runners. He doesn't win challenges, or wipe out whole units. He does on occasion tip a combat in my favour by charging the flank/rear and killing an enemy or two, but little else than pester the enemy. It's also fun when he gets blasted by a spell instead of something I actually want, like my Storm Vermin.

Yeah, I have a friend who plays Dark Elves. They are not only 30 points cheaper, Core units but they can have 75 points worth of magic items. I had an Assassin battle with him and he owned me with this Venom Sword of his. Clan Eshin in this edition of Skaven are way overpriced. And about the Warpstone Stars, depending what army you play against, they are worth their cost, if you can get close enough. So really, the only good things about them are their Ward Saves (4+) and that they can hide in your units and get the enemy by surprise. But for 120 points with no upgrades...
