Welcome to Librarium Online!
This is the start of a new series, that will hopefully bring new ideas and tactics to the forums. Each week, a new topic will be posted up about a different unit in the army book. This gives you your chance to discuss the unit to its fullest. So, please leave your comment!
This week's topic is - Doomwheel
How useful is it? The random movement appears debilitating, how true is this? What tactics do you have for it?
The randomness about it makes it amazing. I only used it once, and I played one game with skaven so far. It stopped 2 inches short of some dark riders, who were quickly beaten down, and then blew itself up as it shot into combat against reaper bolt thrower crew from a misfire. It takes down the big nasties quite quickly. Hydras... die quick to it.
This is one of the few times I really wish expletives were approved for descriptive purposes...
I am a huge fan of the Wheel of Doom. The random factor makes it less than reliable at times, but does certainly add to the overall "cool" factor.
The shooting is spectacular and is very useful at taking down big nasty creatures that can sometimes give the list fits. The nice part is that the wheel is also no slouch in combat either. The FAQ cleared up several issues it had regarding its operations, however it did leave a few unanswered questions, but we have come to accept these things as the hazards of the Warhammer world.
The other nice part about the wheel is that it is fairly resilient and decently priced. With a solid toughness and moderate save it can weather some shooting, and in conjunction with the shooting protection the army offers, it can make it across fairly easy.
