I was thinking about something. While Clanrats are better than slaves, is their skill enough to outweigh the differences in cost?
For example, for the price of a unit of 30 clanrats and full command you can get 75 skavenslaves. So basically I was thinking of how a list would work if you had like 300 skaven slaves filling up core, and then have our more impressive stuff filling up the other 1400 points.
You could have an unbreakable center of either Stormvermin with a bell, or monks with a furnace. and still have plenty of points for other fun hard hitting stuff.
"I am the architect of fate!"
This tactic can work out pretty well actually, as it does give you the possibility of having some great board control. You need to be careful with character dispensement, as well as your frenzied/unbreakable units so that you can break up some of the units and minimize the panic issue.
Units of 21 with a musician are dirt cheap and I think get you the most out of your points per slave unit. Grab like 10 or more units and you will already have plenty of models on the table. Going too many will just end up clogging yourself up when the one unit decides to be hardcore and stay in combat or pass a silly check at a bad time.
