Okay, so I was re-reading the army book, and something hit me... with the rules as written, the packmasters don't fight from the back (even though every unit represented in the army book is arranged that way.) This is problematic, because they will be displacing useful rat ogres from the front rank, and will be exposing themselves to a quick death with their t3 6+. This is technically true of giant rat units as well, but it's less of an issue for them because packmasters are about as good at fighting as a rat.
What's more, please don't tell me that verminous valor will protect them, because no one but Brets and WoC ever issue challenges to Skaven, and that's only because they have to.
Normal Packmasters dont displace rat ogres in the front rank as they are not champions, the master moulder is a different story however, and this is covered in the FAQ.
