40k player. island of blood - 1000 points help

me and my girlfriend have split an IoB box and it looks like her 1000ish points HE are going to rip my skaven to bits.

As i want to play in the shop as well, i just want a 1000 point army built up from the IoB set.

someone said a doomwheel and some plague monks would set me up?

i am 100% n00b and usualy play a chaos space marines and im yet to look upon a single skaven rule book so sorry for the utter lack of knowledge.

    Thanks

    Luke.

Glad to her another one joins warhammer.

The island of blood of the skaven side any way has...

20 clan rats with shield, light armour and spear
    Claw leader,musician,standard bearer.

20 clan rats with shield, light armour and hand weapon
    law leader,musician,standard bearer.

2 rat ogres and pack master/master moulder

a warlock engineer armed with warplock pistol

    a chieftan/warlord with weapons.

    * I live Australia and were getting 'island of blood' on September the 4th so i cant help a lot, with the new rules.

I recommend upgrading the clan rats to 30 models as all rats have the 'strength in numbers' rule so as long as you have 20+ sized units(this excludes rat ogres and specialist units).

I also recommend getting a warlord over a chieftain as the war lord has an extra leadership and more magic item options and a choice of mounts.

I decided to put together a 1000pt army, using all the figures on the Skaven side anyway.

    1 warlord
    blade of corruption
    warpstone armour
    170pts
    * This hero is a monster in combat who has strength 5 any unsaved would turns into 2 wounds and a 4+ armour save which hurt the enemy who attacks the wearer. He is a combat monster which must ask for challenges to earn his points back.

    Warplock engineer
    Level 1 wizard
    warplock pistol
    73 pts
    * Some shooting and magic

30 clan rats with shield, light armour and spear
    Claw leader,musician,standard bearer.
    155pts

30 clan rats with shield, light armour and hand weapon
    Claw leader,musician,standard bearer.
    170pts
    * You cant go wrong with 60 rats with a moderate save and the numbers to easily earn there points back.

    2 rat ogres
    master moulder
    113pts
    * Good flanking unit however venerable to shooting(If the master moulder is killed they suffer from stupidity)

    29 plague monks
    Bringer-of-the-world,musician,standard bearer.
    228pts
    * These guys are insane, 3 attacks each (frenzy,2 hand weapons and 1 attack standard) and with toughness 4.

    warp lightning cannon
    90pts
    * This is the big gun in the army capable of causing some serious damage to heavy infantry.

This army is 999pts. This army will mean you must have to buy...

    1 box of clanrats ($55)
2 boxs of plague monks(10 spare plague monks and 16 giant rats,$100)
    1 warplighting cannon($55)
*This is in Australian money, with a total cost of $210.

This army is a friendly army 1000pt army which has some magic, shooting and 95 models strong.

I hope you enjoy this long post and Keep Punching

what about the Warpfire Thrower and poisoned wind mortar?

with those units + 20 plague monks and a warplighting cannon or doomwheel, would this bee 1000 points?

after looking at an armybook it looks like a full plague monk set would boost the army to 1001 points.

i dont care about the 1 point, if others do ill drop a musician.
    list as follows:

    1 warlord
    blade of corruption
    warpstone armour

    Warplock engineer
    Level 1 wizard
    warplock pistol

20 clanrats, hand weapon light Armour, shield
    musician
    bearer
    claw leader

    Warpfire Thrower

20 clanrats, spears, light Armour, shield
    musician
    bearer
    claw leader

    poisoned wind mortar

    2 rat ogres
    master moulder

    plague rats
    extra hand weapon
    musician
    bearer
    magic
    deacon

    1001points

correct me if im way wrong. it was a quick look + some advice in the shop.

Weapon teams are only good for a defensive army. This excludes the poised wind mortar as it can move and shoot and the Doom flayer as its a combat warmachine. They are very expensive for their points and very venerable to all missile fire. Now that dwarfs have a charge range of 15' shooting is really difficult to earn its points back. You'll get at least 2 shots of shooting and they are very expensive!

Not a recommended unit in 8th edition!!!!
