Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm determined to keep this thing going so this week its
Topic of the Week: Giant Rats and Packmasters
So tell us; How many Giant Rats do you take? Do you take any Master Moulders? What kind of gear do you take with them? Tactics you use?
"I'll have a steak and donut sandwich"
"Do you want cigarettes on that?"
"What do I look like? A Mary? Of course I want cigarettes!"
Hi, first up, fire rep cannon!,rep coming your way(All new people to LO deserve rep), second to the question cart!
I take all skaven units in 30+ models, as they need 4 ranks to live otherwise they run and run and run.
I get 30 giant rats and 2 pack masters, which comes to 106pts. I dont master moulders as they cost a extra 25pts but could be very useful as they have 2 toughness 4 wounds, options to clan mouldar gear and have a extra LD.
I usually send them to flank opponents or take out venerable shooting units (warmachines, missile troops, lone wizards).
SNEAKY TRIKZ: Giant rats don't have a unit size so you get 5 giant rats and a pack as a unit, this comes to 23pts, now dats sneaky.
However i still do prefer slaves, cheaper and better.
The only way Giant Rats seem viable is in a 40+ unit, deployed as a Horde. 50 is actually a much better number, but 40 can work. This gives you 28 attacks (usually), plus how many Packmasters you have.
The reason to really take them is Magic, as they're excellent targets for Death Frenzy and Bless with Filth. A caster heavy army can give them both and than they will tear through any light infantry in the game with ease.
