I have slaves, so what would be the point of Running Clan Rats. Is it good to mix them both or should I just run slaves and/or Storm vermin?

personal preferance from what i can gather. they are good for Fluffy armies at least.
I have a unit just to give my BSB a reasonable unit to hide and fight in.

They are a bit more sturdy, can break and still rally, provide weaponteams, can actually have banners, and because they have ws3, they are not as bad against ws5 enemies as slaves are. Also they are a little better armoured so are actually a match for other str3 t3 foes whereas slaves die horribly wherever you go. You can try to win every fight by attrition, but actually winning them by killing them and breaking them isn't bad either.
It all depends on play style. I use them as wounds for characters. I stick a grey seer or BSB in a unit of 20-30. Slaves are for tarpits and dieing, nothing more. I never take clanrats as a combat unit, they never see combat unless they have to. we have other things that are better for killing. Warpfire throwers and mortars are also nice.
