i have decided to do a combined eshin moulder force need help with any suggestions having trouble choosing what i want in the force the all look so good i have 3k points and i have already decided on snikch and a warlord plus 2 units of 40 gutter runners and 4 rat ogres please help me
Exact opposite of the force I have. Anyway, it's a big mistake to have more than 10 Gutter Runners in a unit, let alone 40!
OK, start with basics - 2 x 50 Slaves, 2 x 40 Clanrats, 1 x 30 Stormvermin. Then go for a block of 30 or so Giant Rats, with Packmaster Skweel Gnawtooth (he makes the unit a tough nut to crack), and another unit of 20 Night Runners. That's the core settled. Then for Rare have 2 Hell Pit Abominations. For special, have 2 units of 12 Gutter Runners and 1 unit of 6 Rat Ogres and 1 unit of 8, the smaller with a Master Moulder. Then for Heroes you should have Snikch, Battle Standard Bearer, and an Assassin. Then for Lords, you should take Throt the Unclean and put him in your larger Rat Ogres unit (which is now a Core choice) and a Warlord and put him in the Stormvermin. If you like, but I think you would go over points with this, you could take a Screaming Bell/Grey Seer, but otherwise you have NO MAGIC! Not only that, but you have little to no shooting. You better hope that your enemy likes combat and doesn't have any decent artillery, because without Clan Skryre, your shooting is as good as gone. If you have played Warhammer and/or Skaven before, then you should know that you gotta try and whittle down the enemy and soften him up before you close in. He's gonna be doing the same to you. And seeing that you have chosen the Skaven, you can expect anything from 1/5 to half your force going down before you close in. Unless you have really good tactics, then this kind of army list really isn't too balanced. Otherwise, that should be a good force. HPA's on the flank, Slaves next to those, Clanrats next to the Slaves, then your Rat Ogres and Giant Rats in the middle. Behind those on one side should be the Battle Standard Bearer, and on the other side there should be the Stormvermin. An Assassin hidden in the slinking Night Runners are ahead of the force, and the two units of 12 should come up from the enemy table edge.
Horned Rat be with you.
why is it a bad idea to field heaps of night runners???
I think it was the confusion with gutter runners and night runners, they are completely different. You said in your original post '2 units of 40 gutter runners' which is very unadviseable, Night runners on the other hand can work in units of 40.
I thought you can only max out at 15 runners per unit?
For Gutter Runners, it is 5-20, and Night Runners it is 10+. Correct me if I am wrong as I don't have my Armies book with me. Where did you get max 15 from? Poisoned Wind Globadiers?
Just double checked our book, it says 5-15 for gutter runners.
