Welcome to Librarium Online!
I've had the urge to create a war litter for some time now, but given the hordes of rats that still need paint I have not really dug deep into it. A recent post has got it rattling (pun intended) around in my head once again.
I've searched around and it seems the Orc chariot bits are the standard that people use. While the bits look hacked together and skaveny enough, has anyone had any other ideas? Built something of your own? I'd love to see some pics.
I considered the Howdah from the back of the plastic Lizardmen Stegadon kit, but i fear the details on it might keep it from looking dirty enough to be used by rats.
I've also seen one built purely from Stormvermin Shields, But i want something a little bigger than that.
Also if anyone knows a standard base size for the war litter i would be greatful. It seems its a bit of a gray area. The rules seem to imply its carried by four stormvermin, But that doesnt seem to me to leave you much space for anything.
Thanks in advance.

i wanna convert mine from 2 stormvermin holding him up on a bed of stolen dwarf shields all hacked and stuck together -very dignified
Depending on the fluff for your skaven horde... your warlord could be mounted on an Engine of the Gods throne, held up by four stormvermin holding weapons fashioned from the Lizardmen's (inspired by Clan Spittl in the back of the Uniforms and Heraldry book)
Both cool ideas. I thought about the fluff, and about what i would have to do to it or how to paint it to make it look like a dirty piece of stolen howdah. Still unsure.
I was looking over the games workshop models, and found the Warriors of Chaos chariot, which i thought would look awesome. Thing is its metal, (I find it harder to work with) and i'm not sure how many pieces it comes in.
I was going the O&G boar chariot route, but that's as my other WFB army is O&G and i have spare ones without the boars (used for making boar boys ages ago)

hmm I have been playing with the idea also. But my thought was to take 4 awesome looking stormvermin, some pikes, balsa-wood and fimo clay (to create skulls) and create an warlitter...
it is just a thought
Sounds like a cool idea, but i'm dreadful at free-handing things. It sounds like the boar chariot may be the way to go. But also thought maybe something can be bit bashed from the WLC/plagueclaw model? the wood is the perfect texture. Thoughts?
If it must be plastic, O&G chariot is indeed the way to go...
Remember though, warlitters are inspired by two main sources: Dwarf shieldbearers (which skaven fight) and Grey seers (which skaven want to be, or at least have their power/influence).
The uniforms and heraldry of the skaven has a picture of one on page 52. Judging from the artwork, I'd expect the thing to be a 40mm base, or possibly the base that Skarsnik and Gobbla are on, IIRC it should be a 40mmx60mm.
How about the TK chariot box? You'll get three chariots for about the same price as a single Orc chariot. The floors of the chariots are wood, the bodies could be easily shaped and crafted, you'll have unique spears for the Storm vermin, whips, should your skaven feel the need to keep order and a whole heap of bones should you want to have the skulls of your foes hanging form the litter.

I'll have to take a look at the TK models. It sounds like a good idea, having three chariots in it and all.
@ We are Legion, thanks for the tips on the base size. Much appreciated.
