Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey, this is a very silly post and will probably be shot by a skaven player but are they any good?
I have seen a couple of skaven armies in action all of them look impressive but they dont seem to work.
I know i am completely wrong, what would work well in 1K points? I know slaves are good but what else?
You've gone around on quite a few threads and posted this question with each army, haven't you?
Well, though this may have some bias, Skaven are probably the most powerful race in Warhammer. If those armies don't work the person must actually be retarded, or really untactful or just quite new to Skaven. They probably don't have a BSB.
Hmm, 1000 points would buy you a decent army. There are endless options, but most include 40+ Slaves, 40+ Clanrats, a rare of some kind, a 2-3 Lords and Heroes, and other little options which those player like to have. E.g. I would always have an amount of Jezzails in a game. But yeah.
yep! getting different views and opinions always helps to make a better list,WWAAAAAGGGHH!
A couple of questions...
-Should i get Warlord or a chieftan?
-Should i get a bsb in 1Kpts?
-Should i run the slaves 5 wide to get more ranks?
-Do i really need clanrats, thought clanrats and slaves have similar stats?
-Should i run Jezzails or a new shinny warp lighting or plague claw?
-I would usually run a plague priest who has magic and slightly higher magic, should i change this to a Warlord and warlock?
I can understand why skaven are awesome in 8th ed, a squad better in combat(which is easy to have) like Sauras warriors. They will just take off numbers and in time we will do a good 'ole' skaven RUN AWAY! How do we stop it, flank charges, stronger units?
I have only played a game single game in 8th ed and my army is certainly spinning and im very confused.

If you saw skaven lists "not working" for players, this is due to those players not knowing what they're doing ;D
Since there's a few posts already in this thread, let's take a look at your 1000pt question ...
Bodies, lots and lots of bodies at 1000pts. Clanrats, skavenslaves, a weapon team or two, chieftain or warlord, BSB, warlock, a giant rat pack or two, and a WLC are my staples.
I like my skavenslave packs at 20 to 25 models strong. They're there to soak up incoming missile fire, and holding up opposing units for you to blast apart. I'm starting to take out my musicians, as I'm finding my charging lanes being blocked by my skavenslaves not running away.
Clanrats should be 25 to 30 models strong at 1000pts. I always take a full command, and have at least one weapon team attached to one pack. My pick is the WFT. If you prefer a second weapon team, I'd go for a PWM or RG.
I take giant rat packs of 14 or 21 models strong, with one or two packmasters. They're small enough to move between other packs, but keep them on the flanks and forward of your clanrats. They'll be soaking up incoming missile fire, just like the skavenslaves, but I'd also suggest killing small units with them. this includes small missile units, flanks of cavalry (since only 1 or 2 models will fight back), or hitting the front of a unit with a mage (you might actually kill him or wound him enough to be killed in the next attack).
I always take a WLC over jezzails teams in a 1000pt.
Don't get me wrong, as jezzails are wonderful, but I'd like packs of 5 - 8 of them to do actual damage. That's expensive, so I use them in lists 1250 and up.
The WLC is insanely destructive in a 1000pt game, and a god~send if your opponent turns out to be an ass by shoving in a monster. He he.
Just my womanly opinions
