Welcome to Librarium Online!
My friend plays warriors of chaos and I am having a huge losing streak against them. My board isnt ideal and is barely useable since its too narrow but also it seems I am unable to win any combat againt any units they have.
My tactic is normally slaves hold them up but even if i flank them with other units I lose and generally my flanking unit runs off the board due to combat resolution. And any unit that isnt slaves or clanrats that get in combat is basically guaranteed to be wiped out or flee in the first round of combat.
At the moment units that fail for me are rat ogres, hellpit abom, doomwheel, stormvermin. Also since he has 2 caster and maybe bad luck again but no matter how many dice i thow he dispels every one of them unless they are cast on irresistable force. the only conclusion I am getting at the moment is the second were in close combat its his win. This has happened twice in a row with the hellpit abomb but maybe thats bad luck. Also in 2 games now have got 2 spells off total the entire games combined.
So he plays all warriors basically and a lvl 4 + 1 wizards. Any tips you can suggest again him would be greatly appreciated. Also in a 2000 points battle how many points do you guys think should be spend or heros and lords. I have tried using WLC and weapon teams as well but really had no effect on him.
I play warriors, I am not too familiar with your army but I fight Skaven everynow and then. I'll tell you what I'm worried about with Skaven armies: Shooting
The warp lighting cannon hurts, the 2 jezzail team with the gun that eats armors saves hurt, the warpfire cannon rat team hurts, in short all that shooting hurts.
I hope this helps, and good luck.
Everything that is anti-armour is your friend when playing WoC. That means you need to build a Skryre Army.
That means Ikit Claw, a couple of Engineers, a BSB, heaps of Clanrats, all with assorted weapon teams, maybe Stormvermin, and definitely Jezzails, Poisoned Wind Globadiers, and 2 WLCS. That should pack a bit of punch not only to the high armour save but also to their toughness 4. You need more of a defence-shooty army against these guys, because they will beat you in combat.
You must also have really unlucky dice rolls. Hopefully the dice give you better fortune with wiser choices. Anything that isn't specialised needs to be a horde. He'll have trouble beating this kind of army.
Hope this helps.
'Warlord Vrrmik' is completely correct! a clan skyre army is build for anti-armour. Get Some clanrats, slaves ,stormvermin ,jezzails ,globadiers, plague mortars, warlocks and some warp lighting cannons.
Against armoured low toughness use clan pestilence as they have a lot of strength 2 no saves stuff.
Anyways good luck to your world domination =P
I agree with Warlord Vrrmik.
Start with 2 units of clanrats w/ Poisoned Wind Mortars, unit of Poisoned Wind Globadiers (with another mortar) & a death globe. This gives you 3 small templates that ignore armor and can hit 9 models a time, plus the globadiers and another small template wounding on a 4+.
WLC, if you can manage to land it in the unit instead of going through will also wreak havoc on them.
2 units of Jezzails should be shooting the highest armor stuff you can find on the board (knights).
If you field a doomwheel, look for characters on their own or knight units. You don't want to be facing lots of attacks with it.
A level 2 engineer w/ a doom rocket (I go with a lvl 2 for dispels & for a better chance at skitterleap) and skitterleap can put himself anywhere on the board to line up that devastating shot. If you can skitterleap him on turn 1, you can put it in line with his entire army so you don't drift over or short of your target, it'll always hit something. Take a pistol and take potshots if he leaves his casters out on his own after the doomrocket is gone
If you use stormvermin, take a Shroud of dripping death an give 'em a couple hits w/ no armor save.
Your best combat troops against his are going to be censor bearers in the flanks, they have sooo many flail attacks w/ hatred.
Plague monks wouldn't be a bad idea either. All of his attacks are going to eat through your light armor, so making him roll 4's instead of 3's to wound. Make sure you take the Plague Banner with them and maybe a priest with the unit in hopes of making them poisoned so you don't need to roll to wound on some of them (and a dispel scroll)
The only thing I would add to the above, as WoC are my regular opponents is that they were built for the 13th spell. 6 dice plus 2 warpstone tokens should ensure it casts everytime. its quite likely your miscast so get your grey seer a ward save or skalm
WoC are very expensive, I rarely find anyone who fields them in units of greater than 25 which is 400pts anyway. Once the 13th spell and your warp lighting cannons, have knocked his units down to less than 15 models, charge your clanrats/stormvermin in and win through attrition. Don't be afraid to hold back your units in the first couple of turns no point rushing into combats your not going to win. And leave the hellpit at home, rare points would be better spent on warp lighting cannons and maybe a doomwheel that can shoot.
