I just wanted to know how do the Skaven fare against the New Tomb Kings? thanx.
Good question, i have no idea.
I could imagine that we wouldn't do well, they have warriors for the same number of points as a clanrat(without upgrades). Which sort of makes outnumbering the opponent harder.
They also beat us in the fact they have a lot of big things, horsemen, chariots, necroshpinx, necro knights, carrion and tomb scorpions, which should give a pounding. Most our heavies are in rare selection which makes then less accessible.
I'd like so see what everyone else has to say, great post by the way Note that im a noob so i know im not correct feel free to have a better opinion.
Wow, what a question.
Well, there are so many variables. The Tomb Kings, with their new release, can field a variety of armies - horde, slogger, fast attack, monstrous assault, and all these other options. Even combinations of them all. That alone gives the Tomb Kings a large advantage, in that the Skaven can only have slight variations on one type of army to be any use - horde.
The Tomb Kings can also field better units for cheaper, and often in better categories. The Skaven also rely basically on 2 things not to fall apart in an army - a Battle Standard Bearer, and ranks. The TK's anti-horde weapons, which I know they do not have a lack of, really rip through the Tomb Kings. That said, Skaven weapons, at least in my experience, have paralleled the effect on their unit, especially the Ratling Gun. Also, the TK have key units not to fall apart in their army overall.
The general census is that the Tomb Kings are definitely beatable, but you have to use your tactical genius and you wits in order to do so. Come with guns. And big things. In fact a more ranged army I find is better for the reason that TK is slow and if you can halve their number before they reach you you're doing well.
I played TK last week and got handed my ratty arse, in 1500pt army I faced two large units of skeletons, unit of 6 charriots, necromonolith thing, warsphinxs thing and the casket. All my plans went wrong due to some hilarious doomwheel and WLC misfire antics but they are a very hard army to beat, basically in the magic phase everything you killed previous round gets healed and the warsphinx hits like a train. Looking back the only tactic I can think of is take lots of slaves and a grey seer and try and out shoot them just hope the don't surprise you with scorpions.
REALLY!! ohh damn looks like im running back to the tunnels
Yes, i totally agree i with resurrecting models, versing my mates grave guard they were in combat with my plague monks, needing 4+ to hit 5+ to wound and he then gets a 4+ armour save and a 6+ ward!!
I would kill 1 or 2 each round but he would reserect them back, and get more. So annoying
