I finally bought myself a Doomwheel a few days ago woooo hoooo & i just wanted to know should i get another DW & a WLC or should i get an Abom? thanx
Don't own any of them yet, but from what I've heard one or more aboms is the way to go
I have been running two WLC with devastating results and they only cost 90 points! You can't go wrong with that. I have also used a DW and have had mixed results just make sure you have a small unit of slaves to take those first turn shooting attacks or make sure you have the DW at least 18 inches aways from your units. Most times I run the unit slaves as a buffer for the rest of the army when I have a DW on the board. The HPA is nasty and almost too powerful IMO it's the best monster in the game.
ive fielded the HPA twice and both times its been victim to something silly. one time it failed to kill a unit of 20 orc Boyz. died first round and didnt come back to life.
second time i wanted to test it against an arachnaroc spider. it didnt manage anything good enough. it died horribly. id rather go with DWs and WLC.
that being said, its an awesome mini and its fun to paint :-)
There is nothing you can do if the Great Horned Rat curses your dice happens to every Skaven player from time to time.
that is true. but if its a unit designed for killing monsters and it dies to cheap core units or monsters twice, i start loosing confidense in it. its not like iam not going to field it again, more like iam gonna field it in games i know i can win without WLC or DWs
I swear by the WLC. It has served me well every single time bar none. I recommend having two, and then you think about your HPA's and DW's...
Maybe I'm alone in this, but the HPA has grossly underperformed for me. It has a bug target on its chest from turn 1 and half the time doesn't even see combat, and if it does it has a wound or two left. It just doesn't feel like it fits in an army that is usually hesitant about getting into combat, and more built to rain magic/shooty death from afar.
Now DWs on the other hand have been MVPs for me in many games. That lightning is very annoying for opponents to deal with, as is it smashing into small specialized units on the flank. It gets targeted too, but they are cheap enough that you can run 2 of them and 2 cannons in a 2000 list. It's much harder to deal with two.
Fear me, mortals, for I am The Anointed, The Favored Son of Chaos, The Scourge of the World. The armies of the Gods rally behind me, and it is by My Will and by My Sword that your weakling nations shall fall. - Archaon, The Everchosen, Lord of the End Times
its exactly the same for me. the HPA is just not giving me the edge i expect from that kind of points. i mean there are SO many choices to pick from. and the HPA is just not high enough on the list to make it into my list
i have never had a bad experience with the HPA, i kill monsters and units the same, which is why i usually take 2, as any Skaven general would.
