Welcome to Librarium Online!
well, i'm new to skaven (gonne play first game with skaven in 2 days)
but i read gutter runners are one of the best units here, so i wonder how you use them...
poison, slings... and get behind the lines of the enemy in round... but you can only take 5-15 of them so you just shoot with it?
and if you go in cc with them, what fights do you pick out (and do you take nets?)
I use them to destroy enemy war machines, lone casters, or other units that may be hanging back. I always give them poison attacks and slings and shoot most of the time with them. Try and not get them in combat with units of enemies or monsters, unless you think you can poison the monster to death in one round, like a giant maybe.
Krull hope your game goes well
Yeah well it depends on the three points...
1)How points do you plan on playing? 1K i used a small squad of 5 with slings they added flexibility to my clunky close combat army.
2) Is your list shooty/magic based, Close combat or balanced? If balanced or shooty/magic based then get them
3) Go hard or Home home - Get huge squads of 10+ or go home, i disagree with this but i can see 5 guys being suicidal
I always run them with slings, to make them effective get poison. If you move and have multiple shots on your slings you need 5+ and str 3 isnt the best So i'd spoil your self and get poison yum.
Hope this helps, tell us how the game went, were gutter runners for you? all the best

I play a warmachine heavy list against Empire regular and I don't take gutter runners I like to slug it out across the board, all our warmachines make it to turn 6 (unless miss-fires happen) take gutter runners unit of 10 with slings + poison in a competitive list leave them out in friendlies much more fun (ever had a warplightning cannon miss fire and destroy a unit of knights?) risk & reward!

I agree with BSM. Lists that spam effective skirmish shooting (like gutters, shades, and chameleon skinks) are nasty and win a lot of games, but very unfun to field once you have mastered the technique. Now, until you have it mastered, I would still try it, just so you know how to throw down against the big boys if you guys decide to hit up the local shop for some tourneys.
But yes, for the most part, dance and shoot. Don't ever hang out in someone's front arc, and prioritize shooting at monsters/war machines/small units/lone characters. Combat is a calculation... will it be quicker to charge this unit, or do I want to hold it up and I think gutters can manage?
