    Doom wheel :D

Hey, got a doomwheel today BUt i have a few questions...

    - what units does it excell at taking out?

    - Does the Zzzap fire from the electric guns? from the base? front, back or side of the base?

    - Does the Zzzap count to combat resolution?

The zap is good for monster hunting, just make sure an enemy monster is the closest thing in your move phase.

As a 360 arc 'charger' it's good at protecting flanks from smaller units... anything that D6+D3 Str6 hits + 3 lightning hits will significantly hurt is something it can handle, but avoid prolonged combat.

I believe zap is measured from the base, and hits the closest thing in 18".

Zap is in the shooting phase and therefore does not count toward CR.

I run a doom wheel down the flanks to splat skirmishers or light cavalry that it can take care of in one turn, thats the only time to use it on it's own NEVER charge a wheel into a large unit on it's own always lock with slaves then hit the flank or run it down the side behind enemy lines to wreak havok amongst casters and other war machines.

Move it close to a big expensive monster and it'll fry it but it won't hold it's own in a monster vs doom wheel combat.

Zzzap Wounds don't count towards combat as they're resolved in the shooting phase.

Zzzap hits the nearest unit to the doomwheel nothing to do with the model 'gun points' it just hits the unlucky unit close enough.

    Zzzap fires into all combats.

I stopped using the doom wheel in 6th when it went away and since then I've traded my Skaven for my gobbos. With the current edition it makes me want to start collecting again as it adds so much flavor to the ratties.

Brock: I dont think the doom wheel gets D6 + D3 It gets D6 impact hits if it charges, no D3 on that turn.

Okay, well i thought the doomwheel may be able to run straight up the field holding up a low str unit and hopefully hold them up for most of the game, but i can see running him up the flanks would be amazing, cheers

Yeah it still gets D3, chariots still get their attacks the turn they charge and do impacts, unless I missed a part under the DW entry that says the attacks don't happen the turn it charges

I also don't mind running him into monsters, he won't beat them in CC, but it holds them in place so they can't get away from the shots, and one round of good lightning plus the impact hits is usually enough to drop a monster

Hit automatic as long as it's in range

    Zapp shooting questions:
1.) Are zapp shots randomized when shooting into CC with non-slave units or just closest unit, period?

    Close Combat questions:
1.) Are the Zapp shots randomized when the doomwheel itself is in CC, and can the wheel kill itself if so (I would think it could then if this is true...)?
2.) or can is shoot yet another third unit involved in the combat due to randomizing when shooting into close combat but not in base with the doomwheel(i.e. not the closest unit, whether friend or foe)?
3.) Do you even have to randomize when shooting into close combat period?

    Movement phase questions:
1.) Can the doomwheel maneuver (pivot) during its random movement distance?

well these are complicated questions, ask the veterns

But i do the answer to a few
    Movement phase questions:
1.) Can the doomwheel maneuver (pivot) during its random movement distance?
You pivot at the start, ca pivot any direction at no cost to the 3D6. Essentially this leads to a 360' degree charge, YAY!!

    Zapp shooting questions:
1.) Are zapp shots randomized when shooting into CC with non-slave units or just closest unit, period?
IF fires the closest unit, if it happens to be a unit of clanrats it will fire there, if the closest unit is the enemy catapult it fires there ect, the book describes this better

Other questions, i have no idea hope this helps
