Welcome to Librarium Online!
Anyone in the urbana champaign area play warhammer 40K?
I do! I'm a senior in Mechanical Engineering and I have a friend who is a sophomore in Sociology who I got started on it
sweet. im gonna be a freshmen in engineering physics, but i might switch to ME later. do you play games at the armored gopher ever? ive hardly played at all but ive read a lot about 40k.
That's a cool major. If you are into machinery such as engines and hydraulic systems you should definitely transfer to ME but if you are more into the generic principles and really into just plan physics, stay with that major.
I've never been to armored gopher games but from I've seen online it looks pretty sweet. I need to swing by sometime and check it out but I am a little embarrassed to play pick up games because my army is fall from complete. I'd be glad to teach you some 40K. Do you have an army at all yet or are you still shopping around?
i just bought an army of necrons of ebay. i also bought some stuff on vacation recently so i have
40 warriors (12 unassembled)
3 wraiths (all unessambled)
2 flayed ones
13 scarab bases (3 unassembled)
i also bought the macragge set about a year ago maybe, and havent really done much with it. i have a the codex too.
I actually would really appreciate it if you could help me out. i kinda read the rulebook, but i learn better when i actually do something. what army do you play?
as far as the major goes, i want to develop weapons for the department of defense, so i might change based on that. maybe you can help me with my homework too lol...
That's not a bad collection at all. With a few extra bases to proxy models to complete units you got some good stuff.
I would be more than glad to help you out. Sometime after school starts we can set up a game and I can walk you right through one so that you can learn. You'll have 90+% of the rules down after one solid game.
Sounds like an awesome job goal. I've always wanted to do something related to the development of engines for cars but if I were to get an offer for something in that field I sure as hell wouldn't turn it down. I actually have an uncle who does quality control for many missiles used by the army and I even have a picture of him with a hellfire on his shoulder

what do you mean by proxy models and complete units? the bases are scarab ones right?
thanks a lot for your help! i move in the 14th cuz im living in the koinonia house. what company does your uncle work for? oh and about the car engines, what companies did you have in mind? sorry im asking so many questions...
When I said using empty bases to proxy I meant in terms of flayed ones or immortals. 2 flayed ones do not even make a legal unit but if you use the 2 models and some empty bases to proxy (represent) more flayed ones it'll work just fine.
I honestly have no idea who my uncle works for but I'm assuming it is Lockheed Martin since they manufacture the hellfire. He could possible work for the army though and check quality after delivery. As far as companies I want to work for, just about anything will work. GM, Ford, Caterpillar, anything that uses an engine. I am interning this summer with CSX and I might even consider engineering trains
my dad works for cat in marketing. im working there for the summer, but not with engine stuff. i did do a week long job shadow of cats fuel systems group so i got to see some really cool stuff. caterpillar is pretty good, my cousin just graduated from u of i and is working in engineering there.
what army do u use?
about the flayed ones, i just bought one cuz i didnt want to spend any more money than i had already. i probably wont use them til i get more.
I use Necrons as well and my friend at UIUC uses Dark Angels
