    World Meet-up

Has anyone given thought to a world meet-up?

I understand that it is largely impractical and hugely expensive to go to other parts of the world for frivolous things, such as gaming (:w00t, but just food for thought, as it would be nice to meet our Australian friends or those in Africa. Where would the ideal place to hold it?

I don't think anyone really would attend (save those living around the place), making it a national meet-up.
I would say southern europe (italy?) is pretty central...
I do like the idea, but it is wishful thinking!
People won't be able to come at the same time (Which is big enough a problem at national events), and won't have money for it, nor is worth it unless you are around at the time, in my oppinion.

I realized that, and made mention of that in the post.

But it's merely for thought and speculation. And you thought and speculated. Thanks.

Speaking of what's a 'central location' for LO members. Do we have a frapper map of LO members, I think that would be a neat addition to the site if we don't.

We do indeed, and if I remember correctly, Clzzrd19 has a link to it in his signature.

    Otherwise, check General Discussions.

The UK! Because pretty much everywhere has flights to at least one London airport .

I would love it, though as I am still young I doubt I would make it to the event. Unless it is in Cape Town *hint*

However I think it might only work if you do it as a holiday and a gaming event. Otherwise it isn't really worth the flying costs. Make a large booking at a resort or something similar.

    Hope my Zim $ 10 000 helped .

I agree with Rork - the best place to do a large-scale "world" Meet-Up of LO members would be in the UK. Convenient (being as there are some great GW places there, I understand) and a rather centralised location, I'd think.

I'd also recommend planning this several years in advance... at least a long enough time to get the word around, and get everything set up. Make sure it's not scheduled near a national Meet-Up, also, as many would go to the national over the world, simply because it's cheaper, and they would be left with little money to go to the world version.

I did look into this once, but it would be hard to pull off.

It could done as a small convention, or a rather large weekend meetup...but the problem is getting the interest before even starting to plan such of an event.

Its all good and well people saying "Yea sounds cool, I'll go." But different on the day when half the people who said they liked the idea never turn up.

Like Lost say, its a big thing and needs to be organised at least a year in advance. Where as the LO Meet (UK) doesn't take as much.
Whcih reminds me, I'll need to start thinking about that soon XD
