    2000pts of plasma death

    I cottoned onto the idea the other day and here it is what do people think or recomend:

    Space Marine Captain: combi-plasma, powersword, 125pts
    Command Squad: powersword x2, storm shield x2, 175pts
    Razorback: twin-linked lascannons, 75pts

    6 Terminators: heavy flamer, 245pts
    Landraider: extra armour, 265pts

    Tactical Squad: combi-plasma, plasma gun+cannon, 195pts
    Rhino: 35pts

    Tactical Squad: combi-plasma, plasma gun+cannon, 195pts
    Rhino: 35pts

    Tactical Squad: combi-plasma, plasma gun+cannon, 195pts
    Rhino: 35pts

    6 Vanguard Veterans: powerswords x3, stormshields x2, 200pts
    Razorback: twin-linked lascannons, 75pts

    3 Attack Bikes: multi-melta x3, 150pts


    Also a small question, would people go with a normal landraider, a landraider crusader or a land raider redeemer, i was thinking originally about a land raider crusader, but a friend mentioned about a normal landraider for added anti tank. what are LO's thoughts???

    I'm just gonna throw this out there, but personally everyone I have run across agrees that Combi-Plasma is a waste. Just get a BP+CS on your Sergeant and a Storm Bolter on your Chapter Master. The only Combi- I personally see worth it is the Combi-Melta.

    I liked the idea of combi-plasma's because on the turn that the marines disembark the rhino they are going to loose the plasma cannon because it counts as moving. So the 1 turn of an extra does of rapidfire plasma at a key moment seems very very useful, ill give it a try though. As to the captain, i have an awesome conversion that im going to use and the conversion uses a combi plasma and a powersword, and the list was themed around this guy. ill try a proxy list using the combi plasmas as combi meltas and see how things go.

    HQ: Mixing combiplasma and PW means you loose an attack. Drop the combiweapon. The command squad also looses attacks by putting storm shields with PW guys. If you swap the PWs for L-claw it is better as a single L-claw doesn't get an extra attack either.

    Elites: OK. I would replace the LR for a LRR with MM upgrade. After delivering the passengers you have more options for close in mayhem. Standard LRs are better at range.

    Troops: If you are combat squadding them then give them razorbacks with HBs. If you do this put the troops int he lascannon razorbacks and the better squads in the HB ones.

    Fast: Split the attack bikes into 2 units. Vanguards are expensive. You could replace them with 5 assault terminators for the same cost and they get better weapons and armour throughout the whole unit. They couldnt get in the razorback but they could go in the LR and let the normal termies walk anf lay down some fire. If you keep the vanguards give them L-Claws with storm shields as neither get the bonus attack.

    HQ:
    Well for the hq im using the azrael minieture as i rele like the look of it and he comes with a power weapon and a combi plasma gun, ive fallen in love with that model and im taking my time painting it. morea of a centrepiece type thing.

    ELITES:
    well for the landraider, i was thinking having a land raider crusader, short range anti horde firepower with massed bolter fire.

    TROOPS:
    With the troops choices i was planning on just rolling them up near an objective or deploring them in key positions with a good arc of fire, with the combi plasmas making up for the turn that the plasma cannon cant fire.

    FAST:
    As for the fast attack and also the command squad, the storm shields are not on the guys with the power swords, i thought that would give me a way of surviving possibly a turn or two more to ensure that they can do the damage im thinking they can.

    (the example of this would be a freind at my local gaming club who running blood angels honour guard ina simmilar configuration and they seem to work for him so i was thinking that they might for me.

    The main reason that i have picked veterans over terminators was that i was planning to paint them up as dark angels and this gave me a reason to have more robes in a unit, im not that good with greenstuff yet and i wouldnt be able to give termies robes at anyroad.

    landraider crusader or land raider redeemer, its the same kit so im not too fussed, but which do you think would be better? splitting the attack bikes into a unit of two and a unit of one i get, would give me more AT at a couple of units, also on the landraider front im leaning towards a crusader with the anti horde or would the redeemer be a better choice??

    I think the LRR is far better than the LRC. the AP3 templates make fantastic troop killers once you drop off the passengers and the MM/TL-AC can have a go at tanks on the turns you are advancing.

    Why

    Why do you lose an attack when you are carrying a combi-weapon? I don't think that this is the case. You don't lose an attack for having a combi-weapon, you gain an attack for having two close combat weapons.

    Perhaps I am reading the entry wrong though. I have been, (regularly) wrong before.

    Combi-weapons don't count as close combat weapons. Judging from your post in the other thread this is where your confusion lies.

    With regards to the terminator squads, i was thinking about depying them within assault range of the enemy for obvious reasons, but im thinking whether shooty terminators are better or assault terminators, if i decided to go with assault terminators im unsure of TH/SS or LC's? if i switched to assault termie's id have 5 points spare dunno whjat id do with them lol, but any one got any ideas?
