Lord Eltor is golden
Default 1500 really basic marines (incl. picture)

Hi all,

I am mostly in this forum because there is at least some talk about daemons, but as my 4th army I also have some space marines, with the following 1500 points getting painted soon.

Priest(?), jump pack

Dreadnought,Stormbolter, Multimelta
Dreadnought,Stormbolter, Multimelta
5 Terminatores, heavy Flamer, Chainfist, Land Raider, Multimelta

Tactical squad, Flamer, Rocket Launcher, Rhino
Tactical squad, Flamer, Rocket Launcher, Rhino

5 Assault marines, Seargent with Power Fist
Predator, Heavy Bolter
Predator, Heavy Bolter

= 1500 points

What do you think? And waht to add?
And: any suggestions, how to make my army look a little more "finished"? The marines need some "make up"!

Here is a pic:

Nice army. Unless you're podding your dreads, assault cannons are better on them. It's more all-purpose.

the predators aren't really good anti-horde. whirlwinds are much better for less. which is what you lack in this list. also i don't think your 5 man assault squad will work. plus you need atleast 3-4 troops choices to be competitive in 1500 points.
thanks

I use a similar list at 1500, but recently I found that taking out the LR until I hit 2K makes a big difference. Also, combat squad the troops and run them in razorbacks w/ the standard heavy bolter. Then you will have 4 scoring choices, but be careful, you will also of given your opponent 2 more kill points. If you ditch the LR, you can fill out your assault squad, add more marines, and/or some attack bikes or land speeders.

In terms of "make up" I would just color the interior of the right shoulder pads and the inset areas of the tank fronts or maybe the doors. I would use a bold color to contrast your grey scheme (probably not yellow lest you hear "are those space wolves" constantly). Blue, purple or red would look cool.

my 2 cents.

Damn Tanks are cool.

In terms of a list switching the shooty Termies out for some Thunderhammer termies to counter charge out of the Raider, would make the army a bit more competitive in my opinion. Or because I like Termies almost as much as I like tanks. You could Drop the assault squad and a Dread to keep the Shooty Termies with and Assault Cannon or Cyclone. And then some other hero. Maybe cassius to go with the ThunderHammernators.

In terms of Appearance Painting the guns a different colour would help create some contrast. Especially on the tanks, but on the tacticals might look good as well. I sort of like the solid colour marines, something different.

cheers

I would personally drop the assault squad and maybe consider Drop Pods for your dreadnoughts, giving you ability to drop in behind enemy armor and pop the rear with thoes multimelta's - are those the resin forge world dread's? I was going to buy my first dread today at GamesWorkshop Store, but turns out you don't get the multi-melta option..

As for colour, I would paint the barrels of your pred's black and also consider adding one more colour to your scheme - I orginially thought your army was unpainted. Alternatively, you could decorate with some freehand scriptures etc if you just want to keep plain grey. Also painting more of the extra details like the windows and headlights on your tanks etc will help.
