    BA -2000pts Mech and Armour

I could use some thoughts on whether this list might work. I was running a DoA, Dreds in Pods and outflanking list, but the new reserve rules have sadly put a stop to that sort of shenanigans. I was thinking it might be a good time to try out a mechanised list and use all those transports that've been gathering dust. Any thoughts would be welcome.

    HQ

    Librarian
    -Terminator armour
    [130]

    TROOPS

    Assault Squad (8 men)
    Power Fist
    Melta
    Land Raider Redeemer
    [394]

    3x Assault Squad (5 men)
    Sarges- Power Weapon
    1 Flamer per squad
    Razorbacks
    [420]

    ELITES

    1x Priest
    Terminator Armour
    [85]

    2x Furioso
    Blood Talons
    Heavy Flamers
    Magna Grapples
    [300]

    FAST

    2x Baal, TL Assault Cannon
    Heavy Bolter Sponsons
    [290]

    HEAVY

    3x Dreadnought
    Assault Cannons
    Heavy Flamers
    [375]

    TOTAL: 1994

The librarian and priest would go with the 8 man squad in the redeemer. I'm thinking this should make a nasty armoured spearhead, but maybe I'm missing something. The basic idea would be to use the Land raider as a big scary distraction while the furiosos back it up, and use the baals and the other dreds to do their thing and screen the razorbacks. One cheap and dirty way I was thinking of to get some ranged anti-tank in would be to ditch the terminator armour on the librarian and priest then use the points to stick hunter killer missiles on the land raider, the baals and the razorbacks, and a multi melta on the land raider.

Looks good, if you can find the points, make those assault squad in the LR into a Assault terminator squad for more survivability and the sort. I don't understand how the new reserve rules mess with DoA or pod-lists, it benefits them and harms them in no way Also at 2k you seem to be lacking some heavy anti-tank firepower. What are you going to do against LR and monoliths or those sorts of tanks, which can be in good numbers at 2000 points. Think about giving your RB a TL Lascannon making them each 55 points, it is worth it. Otherwise seems good, still don't understand how DoA or reserve was hurt by 6th.

  4. Thanks Fnord thanked for this post.

Thanks for commenting Mr/Ms Comedian. You're dead right about the lack of long ranged anti-tank; I'm not used to needing it *cries*. I was running a list with 30 to 40 deepstriking assault marines with power fist sergeants and melta guns (with priests in every squad), anywhere up to 5 podding dreds, and outflanking baals. I've become accustomed to dropping my anti-tank on top of the tanks, and I loved it oh so much. My understanding of the 6th ed rules is that you can only start with 50% of your non-drop pod units in reserve. Am I wrong? Please tell me I'm wrong!

Consider ditching the Landraider assault squad for some Death Company with a Thunder Hammer and a Power Weapon because they can't be stopped by challenges with no Sargent. Because DC already have FnP and FC you can ditch the Priest and upgrade the Libby to an Epistolary or drop the Libby as well and grab a Reclusiarch. If the squad is going to be your fire magnet there isn't much point in spending so many points on the characters riding in it. 8-9 DC + Reculsiarch will thrash most things if they get the charge.
The only honorable options left to we combatants is seppuku or semantics...which amount to the same thing really.

Your math and the assult squad is wrong. LRR is 240 points, 8 assault guys is 154. 240+154 is 394. U say u have melta and powerfist. Just drop the priest, assault squad and libby, and reclusiarch and DC like bonzi said

Put most of your Dreadnoughts back in Pods. Remember that 6e allows us a full 6" disembarkation from the Pod! That's huge. Those two Furiosos can each frag a vehicle on average dice and are a serious threat thanks to their improved AV. Krak Grenades can't touch them and plasma guns just barely.

Take one of those Heavy Dreads and give it a TL Heavy Flamer instead of assault cannon. Pod it next to whatever unit the enemy has with a crazy cover save. With the improved disembark move, the Flame-Dread is almost certain to one-shot that unit into oblivion. Most of those camo-snipers are scoring troops, too!

A Librarian Terminator isn't the best HQ here. You need a beatstick in that LR. What about Seth? He gets plenty of attacks at high initiative plus rending for those 2+ saves. You can even use DC Tycho now... multiple units can share a transport.

You will have to trade out a Dread or Baal to afford these changes.
