Pretty nice list. personally I think you could do with a couple of Lascannons minimum. I'd try dropping one of the CC scout units and the small shooty scout unit and replacing them with Las/plas squads for that added anti-tank, this will still leave you with two hard hitting counter charge units. The scouts you have are good but even with my BA's (furious charge) where they excell I only take one squad, two can be overkill against a lot of CC orientated armies. Also I think your scouts should be 168 as frags cost 1pts per model unless DA scouts get them for free?

Personally, I think DA is as good at close combat as any Codex army. The only real difference is the morale rules. My main concern though, is that when your scouts engage the enemy in CC, you won't be able to fire at them. Be wary of isolation, you are best off deploying the scouts together. A lascannon or two in the tactical squads would help as well... and you can save 5 pts by removing the Stubborn from your Assault Sergeant, he is already fearless due to the Chaplain.

I think the list is almost perfect as it is. BTW, if you read the new Q&A's on the GW bulletin, Pete Haines says that DA chaplains don't have to pay for stubborn because they are already fearless. So the chaplain costs 122 pts rather than 127. I would use those 5 points to upgrade the scout heavy bolter to a missile launcher. Quote:

BTW, DA have potential for the most devastating unit in CC (though it's not a great idea in <3,000 pt games). Basically, you need 2 FOCs Chaplain with termiantor armour A librarian with book of salvation (I used Ezekiel) 7 man Deathwing terminator squad, furious charge and lightning claws A Chaplain on bike with cup of retribution You run up the Lightning claw termies and chaplain in a LRC, and boost up the biker chaplain (artificer armour, 2+ invul boost save). One of the chaplains should have a telehomer, to teleport in a Librarian (book of salvation). When it's all together (not hard for me as it was a 4,500 pt game), charge the Lightning claw termies and chaplains. Use Librarian and biker chaplains to reveal their holy relics. The Lightning claw termies will get 6 S5 power weapon attacks that re-roll to hit and wound each. So that's 42 Lightning claw attacks. When I successfully did this against Necrons (who blew up the crusader but everyone else was alive), I wiped out exactly 800 points of warriors plus the Nightbringer. In 1500pts, u need more AT firepower than 4 MLs and 2 LSTs. U need to be able to bust AV13 and 14 with regularity so lascannons plz. And in my experience 1.5k lists generally have units which can murder scouts in 1 turn of shooting(e.g. Necron Immortals, IG Heavy Bolter support squads, Marine LSTs lol:w00t: )...i recommend not more than 1 squad of CC scouts. Tac squads are more survivable and pack more punch. |
