Theres a fine line between a good challenge and imba armies. Armies are not going to be perfectly balanced obviously, but there shouldn't be this unfair emphsasis on teh space marines, just because they are the bestsellers.

Where do your ideas about unfair emphasis come from?

I mean I know they are the most popular army but why do so many people think that things are tipped in their favour?

The sheer complexity of teh new Codex means that SM builds are very unpredicatble, which is a "good" thing. But that ALL armies had the same unpredictability, but they do not, especially Chaos, where certain units are a shoe in and others are just plain overlooked.

On an aside referencing LoD not using plasma weapons - it may interest you to know that the LoD were lost in the Warp as the Fire Hawks less than a millenium before the current timeline in 40K - they were involved in the Badab war etc.

i dont think it will be unfair i mean all new things look overpowered until the codex comes out and all flaws and limits are found out.

Ive seen the new codex (local store is showing it off)
And OMG SM are very powerful from the new codex espcially through the chapter masters the fact that they all have orbital bombardment is horrid but with some of the new vehicles you just bow your head and say "why didnt i go marines"
Also with chars such as shrike your entire army gets fleet yes thats right with shrike ur army has fleet, and wen he can infiltrate with a squad of assault marines and assault the enemy first turn it sort of freaks you out with his twin linked rending lightning claws.
Either way they are deadly and im considering playing them

I's also consider using some punctuation in your next post - it doesn't read particularly well.
As fr teh new COdex, its the first 5th ed Codex, so no surprise that it's got new toys and nice shiny things for margine players. I can see the new Codices for Crons, Eldar, Tau etc being equally full of nice shiny things and lovely special rules. I do think Orbital bombardment is a bit much, as there is no guarantee of space superiority for a Marine CHapter (unless they bought it perhaps? Maybe having a chapter master on the ground implies that the Battle Barge is in a stationary orbit above the nattlefield?)

I'm on the fence right now about this whole move toward "Use established chapters. No more DIY Chapters".

On the one hand, it'll make gameplay and fluff more streamlined (and get rid of all those "But my chapterz the Shizz. We are from teh lost Primarchz and use all plasma and Eldar technologeez")

On the other hand, as a matter of principle, I dislike limiting player creativity and imagination. I especially dislike forcing players to use special characters to make an army unique. Seriously, how many Shrikes or Azraels are out there? It'll look quite ridiculous at tournaments when suddenly you have two DA forces facing each other and both led by Azrael...There was a reason back in 3rd Ed and somewhat in 4th ed, Special Characters required opponents permission to use. Made their appearance rare, and if they did appear, it was for special battles/occasions.

As for making SM stronger...I'm not surprised. They're the pilot Army for the new rule book, they're GWs top seller, and of course they're supposed to be really strong. I suspect with all these new "goodies" they get, there will also be a points increase. Probably not a large increase, but an increase nonetheless.

With that said, and in regards to some of the confirmed rumors and what not...army bonuses for taking a special character...fine I can dig it. As mentioned I don't like it, but I can deal.

As for all chapters or armies or whatnot get Orbital Bombardment, that is just ridiculous. Now if they can purchase it like a Heavy Support choice like the Inquisition, fine that makes sense. But to give it to them for free (which is the implied tone of the previous post), that is just dumb. Plain and simple.
