Thread: Space Marine FAQ: 5th Ed

    I like and agree with the droppod answer, but is that something official someplace? I checked the SM FAQ on the GW site and didn't see it. I only ask because it comes at EVERY game I play, either with friends, which is no big deal, or at the stores and tournies.

    Re: pods.

    If you mean the deploymement of half rounding up, that is in the codex.

    If you mean the movement upon disembarkation it follows exactly the same rules as any other vehicle. Look at the rule book and you will see an illustration showing the troops exiting upto 2" from the access point not the ends of the doors.

    Question: Can regualar 5th edition codex marine armies take an ally Emperors Champion from the black templars codex. because i can take the iquisitors and sisters of battle in my space amrine army please let me know.

    Short answer: No.

    Long answer: Only Daemon Hunters and Witch Hunters can ally or be allied, none of the Space Marine variants or Guard can take any of the others as allies (however a WH/DH army can take allies from many different books, iirc).

    This one is a little tricky. . .

    Q: Can you convert a Sternguard sergeant into a captain with a Vanguard Jump Pack WITH a Sternguard bolter and Sternguard ammo swapping abilities? Without Jump pack?

    No.

    There is no way on this earth that is allowed. It isn't in any book GW have ever made, never mind the SM codex.

    Vanguard are as their entry in the codex and sternguard are as theirs. Never shall they mix.

    So you can not convert a Sternguard into a captain and give him a jump pack?he is no longer a sternguard he is now a captain. I reread the Codex and Captains can take hellfire rounds. I did not see anything on the othe types but is it possible to?

    Indeed, one can make a captain using his entry in the codex and model him using a mix of Marine bits from any marine set or blister. He does remain a Captain though and will not use any rules from the Vanguard or Sternguard entry. He may take hellfire but can't take any other type of rounds like the Sternguard do.

    New Space Marine FAQ Question

    The Nov 09 FAQ has the following passage

    Page 104, Mighty heroes, second paragraph. The
    third sentence should be changed as follows:
    Each also has the option for an extra HQ unit
    […]
    Does this seriously mean that space marines could potentially have 2 captains/masters and 2 of other other HQs?
    "Drop emergency bulkheads! Activate compression rams! Set internal bracing! Issue brace for impact alert! I repeat, brace for impact!"
