All things Scouts should be posted here. Do you like to take CC Scouts, or do you prefer sniper rifles? How about camo cloaks, and the Land Speeder Storm? What of Scout Bikes, how do they fair?

    Post it!

Lol isn't it ironic that the guy who suggested this topic of the week has over 3500 points of marines and no scouts?

Anyway I love my scouts, i've got a 10-man squad sarg power fist, 4 bolt pistols ccw's 4 bolters 1 heavy bolter. I combat squad them up and have 1 outflanking scoring powerfist and 1 small cheap unit I can park on an objective out of line of sight. Besides they can always put a couple shots the enemy's way.

If it weren't for the cost I'd like to have a scout bike squad that could provide a cheaper, faster outflanking powerfist but alas...

I don't know about your regular space marine scouts, but my Wolf Scouts are rockin' awesome. Its to the point in games where my brother playing IG in Apoc will line his entire back line with troops to prevent them from showing up right behind his superheavies and sending them to kingdom come. He knows they are coming, and they still wreck his day.
Anyways, I usually run them with a meltagun and meltabombs plus a wolf guard squad leader. They'll melt their way through armor pretty quickly. I just hope when the new 'dex is out in October they maintain their OBEL.

    Sniper rifles + Camo Cloaks

Couple 10 scouts with Mlauncher + MOF with Conversion beamer.
Now you have a 12 wound Anti-Armor / MEQ nightmare...

Put them in a terrain piece with "Bolster defenses"
Thats a 12 wound unit with 3+ Cover save.

I almost always run a squad of 10 including sgt Counts as Telion swapping out ML or HB depending on need. When i run MotF as well on bike i bolster the terrain they are in, now you have a 10 man unit, all with 36" plus range and 2+ cover save. Any they play serious havoc on just about everything except heavy vehicles.

They've accounted for numerous vehicles popped, a couple ic's with telion, and alot of pinned units saving alot of damage to my army. And i've never lost more then 2-3 except in one game. even at the cost of cloaks if you disagree with the stealth rule from telion conferring to squad you have a squad that cost around 227 points and last entire games. They only key is getting them in a good piece of terrain.

They are real vulnerable to cc, but that's why you need other units to keep things off them.

Typically 2 5-Man squads of snipers, with 1 Heavy Bolter. All have camo cloaks. The reason I take the slightly more expensive way (Only 10 points more than if it were a combat-squadded 10-man) is so I can get the extra Sarge, which I find is well worth that extra 10 points.

Scouts with Sniper rifles and a Missle Launcher. Hiding in cover with camo cloaks. An opposing players nightmare to try deal with avoid. Use their bonus movement to get them in a good position and then blaze away. Great for dealing with MCs and high toughness troops as the sniper rifles make a mockery of the toughness. And the misslie launcher-always nice to have.
Works well against Daemon Princes and wraithguard/wraithlords Id imagine.

Scouts with combat weapons coming in from a table edge can be a lot more dangerous than it appears-especially for average close combat troops. They have lots of attacks and decent stats so could be used well against baby sitting troops/dark reapers etc.

(all the Eldar referances here are all theory-the rest Ive experianced)

I seldom use Scouts anymore. Once in a while when I do use them I always field them with sniper rifles and heavy bolter. As a relatively inexpensive scoring unit they are terrific, especially if you deploy them in cover on an objective.
