If you like transporting your Dreds with storm ravens then Grey Knights are probably a better codex as their stormravens and dreadnoughts don't share a FoC chart like they do in blood angels. Probably not an issue in lower points games I suppose.

Thanks guys for your feedback. Definitely gave me some ideas to mull over. I was surprised to see how strong a following there is for the vanilla dex.
I think overall, though, I think I'm going to go for a drop pod dread army using the BA dex. At 1500 points (the generally accepted sized army around here), I think I can cram a lot more variety (and fun) into the list. Plus, between the librarian dread and the death company (guys and dreads) it allows a lot of conversion potential to interpret the concepts to fit into my own custom chapter (similar to the lines of my lone wolf guy).
Have a few other projects to finish up first, but I'll definitely have to toss in a concept list for everyone's purview.

Blood angels will give you the most dreads in any list. Even GK's can still only take 3 at most, but BA can take I think it's up to 20 or so? A crazy ammount, and they get the really nutty ones that just keep attacking until their opponents are dead, those things are lethal, oh look I hit you 4 times, I get 4 extra attacks, which hit you 3 times for .. . Well you get the picture, on second though a GK list might be more fun to play against.

I don't think a GK dread list is anything to skoff at. Though you're limited to 3 ven dreads and 3 regular dreads, but you can't shake/stun them and a lot of their weapons can be +1str. Plus, you can make a few of them scoring. Definitely great for an elite, tough dread army. While expensive, and definitely not the most competitive in a codex already filled with super-competitive options, you could make a mean dread-centric list using the codex.
But, I like the idea of having a librarian dread with a few fancy powers. And crazed, implacable melee-noughts. Nom nom. I'm not really concerned about a competitive list, mind you. Just a fun list, and I think the variety will fill that out the best. And, as mentioned, the dreads do come with some gimmicks to differentiate them from "standard" dreadnought loadouts.

When I played a 5 dreadnought list, I had MotF and a crew of servitors. I included 2 venerable dreads with TL LC and ML. The Ven dreads were side-by-side with the MotF touching both and his crew were taking cover behind the legs of the Ven dreads. Each time the ven dreads lost a weapon or were immobilized, the MotF fixed them on a 2+. Meanwhile I had regular dreads and an ironclad coming down in drop pods everywere with some tactical marines offering support. It was very fun!!!
Once a Marine, always a Marine.
