DA raven wing which is better...

For makin a raven wing which is better overall [meaning points guns how much $ it costs ect]a bike, or a land speeder. attack bikes can get MM and TLBs and their reg bikes have to speacial weaps. And a Land speeder has big infantry killing and can get MM too. I dont know which to get first and which is better. Im thinking it might be the LS since they are skimmers but... they are more expensive in points

I think you generally need a minimum number of bikes as troops in a Ravenwing army, seeing as they're your troops choices.

However the best Ravenwing Lists are crammed with as many Landspeeder Tornados with Assault Cannons as can be taken. Simply put, since it has Rending the Assault Cannon has become the daddy of Landspeeder weapons, it can take out tanks/monstrous creatures..anything. And you will get 7AP4 shots per landspeeder a turn (think of that against Eldar and drool).

Both RW bikes and speeders are ver fast,mobile and pack a hell of a punch.The both play different roles aswell.Speeders are better for anti-infantry(heavy bolter&assault cannon)although they can be equiped to deal with armor (multi melta).Bikes are IMO the best thing to take out armor (attack bike with multi melta),although normal RW bikes are very good and extremely versatile,as they can take on be equiped to take on anything.

Honestly, id get your required troop selection first (HQ on bike, 2 bike squads) then id would get 9 speeders. After that you can equip your bike squads as needed (2 melta guns, powerfisted sergeants, attack bikes). Finish it off by adding a master on speeder.

Why multimeltas heh.. Repeat after me, assault cannon is god :p

Tornados do everything, and I mean everything, better than every other speeder out there.. Sure a multimelta can kill a tank better on a PER SHOT basis but then you miss and you wasted points

WHere as with an assault cannon the chances of completely missing are slim. By taking a multimelta speeder you're giving up so much other firepower which isn't worth it at all

Yeah it's sorta boring to take a bunch of tornados, but if you wanna be creative take something "else" like ... ok just take tornados because ravenwing has 3 unit choices. I think of it in terms of "do I wanna spend *my* money just to be different?"

I concure. Hence why Bikes are relegated to anti-tank in the Ravenwing lists. Assault cannons CAN do the job, but they dont ALWAYS do the job. I have found that 2 melta guns are more reliable. Especially if you can follow it up with an assualt from a powerfist or even melta bombs.
