nice paint scheme, no comments on it. an entire army of it would look great on the tabletop. tell me what traits do you use? (eg what sort of chapter is it?)

LIBERTY'S VANGUARD, RATIONALISED BACKGROUND. Well, in my own backyard they're a 1st founding chapter (one of the missing primarchs). But before you scream at me, I said in my own backyard, not officially. The insignia is my Avatar. DREADNAUGHTS: They're defensive, but smart. They are able to build Terminator Armour but still don't due to the materials needed. They only have 8 Dreadnaughts in total, but many 'shells'. This makes it "Heed the Wisdom of the Ancients". Also I've got a special Character Dreadnaught, Kentares IV (formerly named Arrow IV). Each Dreadnaught has a name followed by an number, the number signifies the number of the currently used 'shell', so Kentares IV means this is his 4th suit. All of the Dreadnaughts having replacable shells means at a drop of a hat, they could be in a squeaky-clean suit, or they could stay in one for centuries. So I wanted to have more freedom of choice with the dreads as they are tacticians and respected personalities (that'll come into play later), so should be allowed to be placed anywhere. I also want to be able to have 2 venerable Dreadnaughts at will for posterity. READY FOR ANYTHING: Being defensive, the Chapter needs to counter enemy attacks effectively, right? So the basic Marine wielding a Bolter just isn't enough; they need more than that. That's why they're trained in CQC (Close Quarters Combat). Each Marine is capable of switching from ranged to Melee combat in an instant. Hence, "Trust Your Battle-Brothers". When the enemy charges, I get the second attack which can change the course of a battle, It also comes in handy for assaults when not counting as charging (pile in, sweeping advance, etc.). WELL TRAINED: Liberty's Vanguard is proud of it's training. Each Marine, being trained in CQC, will agree that to use excessive fast-moving vehicles is a waste of skill. Liberty's Vanguard believe strongly in their own prowess at CQC that they prefer not to use fast attack vehicles. They prefer to cut their enemies down "Eye To Eye" and make their prescence personally known. Some stipulate that it's also out of respect for their foe, and wanting to make sure it's dead by taking care of it personally. ALONE: "We Stand Alone". Being how we are (a sovreign state of the Tau empire), the rest of the Imperium has it in for us. Between being hated by our fellow man, and being separate from the Tau, we are unable to rely on any ally. And we are too proud to use mercenaries. -We Stand Alone -Eye To Eye -Trust Your Battle-Brothers -Heed the Wisdom of the Ancients OTHER STUFF: War has been declared against the Black Templars. If possible, we will fight them before any others. If I could add a Preferred enemy: Black Templars rule to them, I would. We aren't under the illusion of the Imperium (think Soul Drinkers), but we are NOT CHAOS! We just know that the Emperor is dead. Our proof is that, in his lifetime, humanity was led by him in peace until the Horus Heresy, but it took a Primarch to rebel. Our maxim is "Fight not by His name, but in His memory". The Chapter is split up as follows: -3, 4, & 7 - Outward Defence Initiative (O.D.I). Liberty's Vanguard has been attacked many times and has pushed them back at every turn. As the aggressors retreat, this force tracks down and kills all members of the attackers. If anyone helps them, they are killed too, but not sought after (if the helpers give up they are given quarter). This force is constantly on the move, and so is almost impossible to keep track of. They have access to a reserve company which travels with them to restock the ranks. They are Scavengers and will salvage everything left behind after a battle. It has yielded them a Land Raider Crusader called 'Gehenna' from their enemy, the Black Templars. This force has the authority to aid any they see fit, recruit separately from the rest of the Chapter, and declare war on other forces. If they declare war it is always for good reason and is adhered to by the rest of the Chapter when encountering this new enemy. They have very few War Priests (weakened Chaplain equivalent), and so cannot afford to lose them in battle. -2, 5, 6, & 10 - Hiigara's Guardians. (In Campbell Lane's voice), Our home, Hiigara. We fight feverishly to keep it safe. The heads of this force have willingly used the Scout company for their geurilla tactics which are set into play the moment enemy forces arrive on world. Led by two of the three Sons of Liberty, this force is a powerful force because of their utter devotion to keeping Hiigara as ours. Adept at urban and Jungle fighting, this force sits and waits for the time to come when they can snap into play. -1st Company - Darkstar Apogee. Obviously the Veteran Company. Led by the Chapter Mater Lachlan Danaan. THis force is sent in pieces to wherever they be needed. Even as helpers for the Tau (it goes against the "We Stand Alone" divergence, but when with Tau, this Company is the Ally and is exempt from that rule). Lachlan Danaan is a name passed down to each Chapter Master upon entering his rank. Effectively making Lachlan unkillable. This Company is fond of using Frop Pods. -8 & 9. Battlefleet Balcora. These two Companies are in the defensive fleet which patrols the Hiigaran system. If a possibly hostile Ship appears, they parley with the newcomer. If talks//negotiations go sour, they attack. The fact they always parley aboard the Flagship of the arriving fleet means it's out of the battle first, and subverted first. These two COmpanies are masters of in-ship fighting. When they enter a ship, it's usually taken over very soon. They are also the only thing that stops the damn Inquisition from blowing Hiigara up. That's the Chapter's details in full. The fluff goes on for about 3 times this long...

Is that a headless termy? Looks nice, very fluid with the colours though the thread title caught my attention the most...

Finally a computer where I can see the image. Aww man, I wish I could paint half as well as that. Because right now my painting skills suck. My brother does most of my painting. :w00t: so everyone give kudos to <E!_Mance> for his paint job and fluff. and to KeegKhan God of War for painting all of my Marines in the corner "I really need to learn how to paint"
